3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for $0.86
I've only read a few books by this author, and I haven't been all that impressed; however, the price made this one too good to pass up. This was a pretty quick read and the story was good, although I was a little disappointed with the resolution of Wynona/Edward story.

Not bad. The price alone makes it worth checking out.

5.0 out of 5 stars superb hot romantic suspense, April 25, 2010
This review is from: Spontaneous (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Former cop now a private investigator for the past three months Duan Jeffries rushes from a case in Atlanta to attend his brother, the once "Holy Terror" Terrance, wed Sherri Griffin (see Temperature Rising). He muses about the family's rash of marriages as his sister Olivia recently wed Senator Reggie Westmoreland (see Tall, Dark and Westmoreland) and his father to his devoted assistant. He is happy for all of them as he feels they deserve the best and they got the best.

During Terrence's reception, Duan and Sherri's friend ER nurse Kimani Cannon sneak away to make love. As they get to know one another, he is appalled when she mentions to him who her four failed marriages mom is now engaged to. When he was a cop, he thought strongly that Edward Villeros killed his two wives, but could not find proof. He vows to save her mom from a fatal mistake while Duan and Kim fall in love; however with her mom's track record Kim rejects happily ever after leaving Duan to wonder if the last Jeffries standing will remain a bachelor.

This is a superb hot romantic suspense thriller that grips the audience from the moment Kim mentions the name of her future step father and never takes a breather afterward. The mystery of Edward is well designed so readers are unsure whether he is a black widower or a bad luck husband. However, the tale belongs to the lead couple as Kim has relationship issues that make Duan wary to confess she makes him whole.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOT! HOT! HOT!, April 19, 2010
This review is from: Spontaneous (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Brenda Jackson's books are always Hot, but she has reached a new level of hotness with Spontaneous. From the first chapter to the last. You have to pry Duan and Kim apart with the jaws of life. This is a continuation of the Jeffries clan that was introduced in Tall Dark and Westmoreland. This continues with the Lust at first sight genre. The book is a quick read so I guest they have to be thrown together right away. The book takes and interesting twist with Kim's four times married mom who is working on the fifth husband. I love Brenda Jackson's books long or short. Brenda's stories are always satisfying and entertaining.

I was a fan of Brenda Jackson after I read the Players Handbook a few years ago. However, I've noticed that when she writes Silhouette Desire the main characters are similiar to other main characters that she has written about. The women are usually no older than 28 and are extremely sucessful and are either virgins or had one bad experience and never want to have sex again. Then the perfect man comes along and shows her what she's been missing. The man usually has some fantastic career and is determined to never marry for no real reason.

In this book Ms. Jackson wrote a story that was very different from the ususal. Although Kamani's age was never mentioned. I had the impression that she was at least 28 or older. She had a good job as a nurse and I liked that; not everyone has to be a world famous surgeon. I also liked that she had sexual experiences and enjoyed sex. There is nothing wrong with a women having past lovers and enjoying sex. Duan was fine and sucessful but not over the top. He had the career that he wanted and was happy. I liked Duan and Kimani because they seemed more complex and developed.

Both characters were very sexually attracted to one another and from the beginning of the story they steamed up the pages. However, this wasn't just two people who had just met hooking up for sex. Ms. Jackson explained that their attraction had been simmering for several months. The language in the book was more graphic than you would read in her Westmoreland series but I would not call it vulgar or too graphic. If you read erotica than this is still mild. However, if like more tame descriptions than this book may not be for you.

There was an interesting secondary plot that helped more the story along and the couple to form a deeper connection. The book was only 216 pages but Ms.Jackson managed to give the reader a fully developed story. I enjoyed reading this book.

I READ THIS BOOK IN ABOUT 4 DAYS, AND ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT BRENDA JACKSON HAS ANOTHER GREAT NOVEL ON HER HANDS. SPONTANEOUS IS A GOOD TITLE FOR THIS BOOK AND LIVES THE WORD THROUGH AND THROUGH. KIM AND DUAN ARE TOTALLY HOT TOGETHER, SO I WOULD TELL ANYONE WHO LIKES TO READ TO PICK UP THIS BOOK FOR SURE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love & Mystery, May 17, 2010

Ok, this may be one of my favorite Brenda Jackson books to date! PI Duan Jeffries falls for his sister-in-laws best friend Kimani only to find out that her mother may be the next victim of serial killer. For this to be such a short book, I liked that there was so much romance but also mystery and how the the story unfolded to find the disappearance of the two women who were married to the supposed killer. I really enjoyed this story.

This book to me was well written, I read a viewers comment that she didn't like it because within the first three pages they were having sex after all the book is called SPONTANEOUS that's ok if she didn't Care for that but I can tell those of you who haven't read the book yet it is good. I don't care that they had sex within the first couple of pages it was different and exciting and most importantly if the author can keep your interest after they have been intimate so quickly then the author has done her job.

I like Duan and Kim they both had there issues growing up and that leads them to be who they are. You will fall in love with both Duan and Kim when reading this book as well as their family. I am a fan of Brenda Jackson and she gave me something different and I enjoyed it.

I loved the story between Kim an Duan this story is about a couple who met months ago and when they meet again at Kim's best friend's wedding the attraction between them is spontaneous. You'll also get a little bit of a mystery when kimani's mom calls and tells her she is getting married for the fifth time and her fiancée is accused of a crime. There is definitely substance to this story and I would recommend reading this book blaze books are truly red-hot reads.

Duan and Kim are good for each other. They have insights into each others backgrounds because of the issues in their lives. They are sexy sensual people, who are devoted to their partners pleasure. However , before you make the assumption that all the action is in the bedroom this story contains a mystery to be solve and elements of danger. It is a wonderful read.
