ok I bought this on DVD and I had once seen it as a small child and loved it. OK here is the truth the movie made 100% no sense. But it had really cool effects and kept me entertained. Sadly the female lead Maria Penchukas died a couple of years ago but this is more than an awesome so-called "B-film" it is a cult classic. Trust me if you are having second thoughs about buying it, you will be very happy if you did.

Okay, this thing is terribly low-budget and strictly amatuer in the acting department. But the special effects are pretty darn good and some of the creatures are creepy. I loved this one as a kid and think it's a terrific entry in any horror aficionado's collection.

I don't understand how a movie that takes three directors can be so poorly made. I'll give credit that the effects weren't to bad, but that's really the only good thing about the film, because everything else was pretty crappy. The film starts out with a group of people who just got kicked out of a party, who decides to roam the roads out in the middle of nowhere and somehow stumbles upon an old mansion, which they thought to be vacant. Little do they know that an evil sorcerer lives there with his many ghouls and monsters. The movie is filled with plot-holes, bad acting, directing ,lighting, and scripting. When we reach the conclusion of the film it's nothing special. A girl runs away from a crap load of zombies for like five minutes and a few others rhings happen.Don't waste your time with this. The story os full of holes and it's full of bad acting. It you want to see it only see it for the monster effects. Other than that it's Crap!

Here we go again with another tale about a bunch of dumb kids who trespass into a haunted house and get slaughtered by the house's inhabitants one by one.
This film was so grotesque I could hardly stand it. Ten minutes into the thing, I just wanted it to be over. I spent the $1.75 to rent it, though, so I forced myself to sit through it. After the first thirty minutes was over I began thinking, "this movie has to get better, has to. This is rock bottom, bottom of the barrel. It can't possibly get any worse than this. It's got nowhere to go but up." Well, guess what. I was wrong. Remember when I said it was "bottom of the barrel?" Well, somebody must have poked a hole in the bottom of that barrel, because what little bit of class this flick had eventually leaked out the bottom of that barrel and into to the cold, dirty, bug-inhabited earth beneath. Just terrible. During the final chase scene when the girl was running away from the house, it got so bad that I just fast forwarded through most of it. I hardly ever do that. A movie has to be pretty lousy for me not to even want to hear the dialogue. Some of the people here think it's a good movie to laugh at, and that's probably true. But for me the novelty wore off half-way through. It went from being a laugh-riot to being just a strict test of my patience. My advice to you people is, if you see this film on your video rental store shelf, make like the girl in the end of the movie, and RUN RUN RUN!

I first saw this movie last year and I absolutely could not stop laughing. It is without a doubt the worst film I have ever seen. The acting is terrible, it has no plot, the "special effects" are laughable, the music is all synthesized and made me want to vomit and laugh at the same time (I'm a musician, so I care about these things), and I think it was filmed by candlelight because you can't see a thing.Still, it is so bad to the point that it is really enjoyable to watch if you need a good laugh at the expense of someone else. I'm half inclined to say that this movie should be burned and forgotten, but I would also be willing to argue that it should be kept around and mocked thoroughly. The film is basically about this group of random obnoxious people who go into an abandoned house and are killed off one by one by various monsters that are all controlled by this old guy who wants to bring his dead bride back to life. Confused? It doesn't matter; after watching the movie you still won't understand it. My personal favorite moments in this movie include the farting monsters that can be killed with wine, the stuck up British smoker woman, the cat/man, the deflation of a schizophrenic dude's head by a Chinese spider woman, a random act of violence against a closet, and a super-long chase scene with horrid 80s power music and a Winona Ryder look-alike. Bottom line? This movie is awesome if you're stoned or if you have a twisted sense of humor and don't take it seriously. It is only good to be laughed at. If you're actually looking for a movie that is good or scary in any way, run far, far away from Spookies. |
