Product Description

In a world where the only good pumpkins are round pumpkins, Spookley the Square Pumpkin is often teased by others because of his square shape. Soon Spookley is befriended by Edgar, Allan and Poe, three hilarious spiders who convince him that, square or not, he has a right to be the Pick of the Patch on Halloween.

Could a square pumpkin really be the Pick of the Patch ? Not if mean round pumpkins Big Tom and Little Tom can help it. These two bullies tease and taunt Spookley because of his square roots.

Kindly Jack Scarecrow and his bat sidekicks, Boris and Bella, encourage Spookley to keep striving for Pick of the Patch , but he isn t sure he has what it takes until one scary day when a mighty storm threatens his home. As the storm rolls the round pumpkins across the patch towards a raging river, Spookley's square shape helps him save the day.

Instant classic - very cute and entertaining, pleasing to watch. It's like the Rudolph story, but for Halloween - teaches acceptance of differences and kids love it. My 4 kids (9, 5, 4, and 1) all watch it and love it. Cute songs, great graphics, and I just hope this company produces some more holiday shows!

If you want a less expensive version, without the plush toy, you can buy Spookley the Square Pumpkin. Pixar it's not. It lacks the texture, lighting and subtle nuance of a Pixar film. However, the computer animation is pretty good for a children's video and you won't be disappointed. There are several children's videos that I like to watch with my kids. This particular video leaves me lukewarm. There are very few, if any, bits of humor for adults to bolster our flagging sanity. That said, it passes the most important test; the kids love it. Parents won't find it annoying (at least for the first 50 times they see it).

My kids particularly like the musical bits. My five-year-old also likes the read along version of the original "Spookley" book on the bonus section. It's interesting that the book diverges SIGNIFICANTLY from the video.

My son has specifically asked to see the bonus feature several times. It's read by the same guy who sings "Monster Mash", so gives the story a very nice "Transylvania Twist". Overall, I'm not disappointed I bought it for my kids.

My kids love this DVD. Spookley is a pumpkin who is teased because he is different but this show teaches not to judge a book by it's cover. 5 Cute songs and it teaches a valuable lesson. Special features include:

-Direct Play DVD-full screen version

-Read Along with Bobby(Monster Mash) Pickett

My 2 year & 8 year old love this show and ask for it all through the year.

We just got the DVD and my 3 year old daughter loves it. We have watched it about 4 times already (I find myself humming the music all day!) We walked into the bookstore yesterday and the first thing we saw was a Spookley book on a display for Halloween so we had to get that as well. They had a bunch of different Spookley books and a small stuffed animal too. The story is such a nice story (when my daughter gets a bit older she may appreciate the moral of the story better) We highly recommend this and plan on buying it for my brothers kids.

I hope Holiday Hill Farm presents alot more movies. They give Pixar a run for their money. This is, hands down, the best Halloween movie ever made and one of the best family-viewing movies altogether. You fall in love with the characters right from the opening scene, the colors are so vibrant and the music is awesome. My family can't wait to see their Lyla the Lovesick Ladybug movie for Valentine's day!!!

My 2 year old son saw this movie on Disney channel 3 weeks before Halloween. All he kept saying after that was "watch punkin movie." All other Halloween movies he said,"no,no."
Here we are approaching Christmas and he still wants the punkin movie. It has a great moral to the story and a lot of cute songs to get stuck in your head. He has a great time watching it and laughs at a lot of it. I'm glad I made the purchase and delivery came the day before Halloween.
I could have given it as a Christmas present and he still would watch throughout the year.

I had forgooten about Spookley at first but my then 2 year old daughter remembered it, asked for it by name and even recalled which VHS tape I'd recorded it on!!! Since then (2 years, my daughter is now 4 years oild) Spookley is a regular in our household! It really is a cute story with a good moral and catchy songs. The animation is very well done also....WE LOVE SPOOKLEY!!!!
