A good book for all levels of steelhead spoon fishermen.
This book is a must for all steelhead spoon fishermen. It covers everything from the history of the spoon, to techniques, and to fishing morals. I rated this book as a four because a few of the methods described were kind of hard for me to understand. Bill Herzog is a great outdoor writer and, as stated earlier, all steelheaders should definately read this book.

Steelhead fisherman from Washington D.C.
The book is basically a good book but some of the technique sections are difficult to understand. If you read this book in conjunction with Jed Davis's Spinner Fishing for Steelhead, Salmon and Trout, then I give it 5 stars. The reason is that some of the theories are the same but Herzog does not talk about them in great depth or explain them well. If he did, the book...

The reason is that some of the theories are the same but Herzog does not talk about them in great depth or explain them well. If he did, the book would be top notch. However, if you are serious about fishing steelhead and salmon with hardware, this is a valuable book.

Bill writes often for Salmon Trout Steelheader magazine.
He's a good angler and a good writer.
You'll enjoy his book, as I did.
