Want to know one of *the* favorites of the skinny white kids from Liverpool in the early '60's? Meet one Howlin' Wolf- crusty voice and all, with all manner of imperfections far too numerous to name. But it was those same imperfections that brewed itself down into some of the most raw, gut-punching pieces of blues music ever heard on this planet, and the blues kids from England (and NOT from Wolf's own country of the USA!) were the ones who were able to spread Howlin' Wolf's genius to the rest of the world- and back, again, to his own country of origin.

"Spoonful" is my personal favorite from Wolf's entire collection. All the frustrations of love (lust, ownership, envy, etc) are all boiled down to a 4-minute cup of raw pleading- along with a little warning as well, just in case someone else decides to take that spoonful away.

So before you whet your appetite for more British blues bands like the Rolling Stones, the Animals, and the like, indulge yourself in a few more spoonfuls of the Wolf.
