Customer Reviews

The brush is very well constructed and a good product.
Patti McFarland
It smoothly detangles my hair, which is very long (to my butt), thick, coarse, frizzy, and slightly wavy.
Saffron
It is a really good quality brush and feels great on the scalp too.

First of all, I'm caucasian & my hair is nearly to my waist and naturally wavy. I don't feel this brush is for getting tangles out. It doesn't get all the way through my thick hair. But what it's really good for is just brushing. I can feel it gently on my scalp, kinda like a massage. This brush is good for distributing the natural oils in your scalp down to the ends of your hair. Another big plus is that I use this when I want to wear my hair up. This will smooth your hair right to your head with none of those little hairs sticking up. I use different brushes but this is one of my favorites.

I've been looking for a boar's hair brush to help re-distribute the oils in my hair, the first few I came across were out of my price range. I ordered this brush when I saw the price, unsure if I could expect a quality product at the given price. I'm impressed. I have long, fine hair that comes to the top of my thighs & while I didn't expect this to be able to get through my hair in one stroke, it does much better than other bristle type brushes I've used. I have stuck to a metal peg type brush just to be able to de-tangle my hair until now. I still use that other brush, but I find myself turning to this one more & more.

I should say, I quite using conventional shampoo & conditioner months ago (search the No 'Poo method if you're curious) and my hair is much easier to brush, perhaps that makes me like this brush more. However, my 14yr old son, who has shoulder length hair with much more texture & curl to it (and uses conventional shampoo) says this is his favorite brush too.

All in all, we're happy & impressed!

Edit:

Its been nearly two years since I purchased this brush. I still use it regularly & its still in good condition. The wood has lost some of its luster, but its still sturdy. No loose bristles at all.

This is NOT boar hair, i assure you! It is some form of synthetic. Do not waste your time and money. I bought this because my hair is static ridden during the winter, and heard natural hair brushes help with that. This brush made it ten times worse than what my ConAir plastic bristle causes. Simply Unusable.
It was in the trash five minutes after opening it, but i decided to return it considering it was over 20 dollars with tax and shipping.

They melted right away as I was blow drying my hair. False advertising! Don't waste you money, it's in the trash now

This is not 100% genuine boar bristle. The bristles melted the first time I used it with my hair dryer. I would not recommend this brush.

I had high hopes for this brush base on some other reviews. Unfortunately the review that says that this brush left her hair with a lot of static was correct. I had a head full of static. I have fine, wavy but dense hair. I got much better results from the Isinis hairb rush I purchased. I just happen to really like paddle brushes this size. I liked the look of the wood.

The bristles were too soft and did not brush down to my scalp. They didn't clean the hair as boar bristle brushes are supposed to be notorious for doing. This brush is made in China like everything else and overall it just lacks actually quality. If you are about to spend $15.00 on a brush it should deliver results. This brush did not deliver the results that boar bristle brushes deliver. Because it doesn't brush deeply it also does not deliver that famous shine that you get from a boar bristle brush either. Overall, a very disappointing purchase.

I am very, very happy with my brush. It really softens and smooths out my hair. I have pretty thick hair so I have to brush it in layers to really get to my scalp. It feels GREAT on my head. I think the first time I used it I didn't stop brushing for about 20 minutes because it just felt so amazing. I mainly ordered this brush to help distribute the natural oils of the scalp/roots down to the ends and it does a really good job. An added bonus to this brush is how great it is at smoothing! I've found it very useful for getting my bangs to stay combed back and for smoothing out that hair under a ponytail.

Things to note: It doesn't seem like the handle is actually made from wood. But they do a decent job of pretending that it is so it doesn't bother me. Also, I'm not convinced that 100% of the bristles in this brush are actual boar hair. As you can tell, the brush is made from clusters of bristles. About half of the cluster looks like boar bristles. The other half looks like it's probably shorter, plastic bristles. But then again, this brush is $10 and I wasn't expecting a luxury item. I could be completely wrong on this though.

Also, be aware that boar bristle brushes are not detangling brushes. The bristles are too close for that. Use a normal, wider-toothed brush to detangle first, then indulge in a few minutes of brushing with your boar bristle brush. :)

This brush is beautiful and almost the right stiffness. I think the air in the paddle brush makes it a bit cushier than we wanted but FAR better than brushes we have found in the store. I gave this as a gift and she really loves it. We would buy this again.
