If plastic I will complain to Amazon and get back to you on this.
1/14/14: In my Forensics Lab the next day:
Ok, my wife LOVES these two brushes! However, upon close examination they are not 100% boar bristle, in fact they are not 100% even natural bristle.
The thicker SHINY bristles looked suspicious when I first looked at them. Thick, stiffer and shiny says plastic to me. I pulled a few out and heated them up over a candle and they melt just like plastic would. Pretty sure bristle would not melt.
That being said there ARE other bristles in there that look natural and may in fact be boar or piglet or whatever. Even still the shiny plastic bristles far out number the natural looking ones. I wouldn't even say they are 50/50.
To be fair no where does it say 100% boar bristle, or even 100% natural bristle...but to me it's still misleading to state "boar bristle" (which at 15 bucks would be a steal) - it should be touted as perhaps "contains a small amount of boar bristle" or even "these brushes are manufactured on machines that also produce boar bristle brushes".
Ok...does it make a difference if the wife loves them and the price is cheap? Ethically/morally to me...Yes, but...there you go with that relative moralism. Sigh.
Last note, as I was about to heat up the bristles the wife says you're not pulling more bristles out of the new brush are you? More? No...only one or two...what do you mean more? Oh, she says...the brush loses bristles every time I use it.
You decide...I'm on the fence. Hope this helps you.
I would have given this brush 5 stars but the only thing I don't like about his brush is that the handle is too thin. For the size of the brush, the handle should be a little bigger. It does get pretty uncomfortable to use this brush for my long thick hair towards the end. I can blow dry about half of my hair before this brush starts to hurt my hand. I end up having to take a break and finish the rest. This would be the perfect brush if the handle could be a little thicker. If your hair takes less time to dry or is shorter, you may not have any issues with this brush. Other than the handle thickness, this brush is perfect!
Even with the skinnier handle, I'd buy it again :)

Great for blow drying hair. It doesn't break or pull hair out and I can definitely tell my hair is much softer after brushing with it vs. other brushes.Published 3 days ago by Amazon Customer
Narrow handle is extremely difficult to grip during use; It is exhausting trying to hang onto this brush while brushing through the hair ...or... God forbid ... Read morePublished 7 days ago by Mary Anne Borgioli
Love love love this brush! It picks up my hair so much easier than others, even with product in it. The long bristles are awesome.Published 1 month ago by Kari
This brush has longer bristles and is round so it grabs your hair better and you can brush down to the scalp.
Why didn't somebody think of this before.
Not sure if this is made of 100% authentic boar bristles.. Very slippery handle, and not easy to hold while blow drying my hair. I don't recommend this brush at all.Published 1 month ago by That1Chick
bristles are soft, handle is well made, sturdy good product for the price.Published 2 months ago by Melissa S.
I like the brush, but the handle is too skinny. It only takes me 5 minutes to blow dry my hair, but it only take a minute for my hand to start hurting.Published 3 months ago by Michelle S.
