Great tracker,

This review is from: Sportline 1060 Unisex Duo Speed and Distance Heart Rate Monitor (Sports)
Once you get everything set up this little power house is great! I love the ability to check my heart rate just by touching the front of the watch so I don't have to wear the chest strap all the time. Its also great that the touch sensitive monitoring can be turned on and off so when I wear it as a regular watch its not trying to check my heart rate if I accidentally touch the front of it. This is a great tool for anyone interested in tracking their runs, workouts, walks, or whatever. If I can find a more petite version I will get it for my wife who needs to monitor her heart during the day because she will like the option of just touching the watch and not having to wear the chest band all day long when she only needs to check in every so often.

Excellent workout watch.,

Overall I'm very satisfied with this watch. It's a little bit complicated to use at first due to its tons of features and functionality but once you get it, it's a great workout watch. It feels light and comfortable on your wrist. It shows all the critical data you'd like to see during workout without the need to go through multiple screens. One of it's best features is the ability to use it as a heart monitor with or without the chest belt. You can also use it as a pedometer and it even calculates calories burnt. It's a great all in one watch for the price, highly recommended to anyone into fitness. One feature they should include in the next version of this watch is the ability to wirelessly send your workout history to your computer. It captures your workout history for the last 7 days but can't synch it up with your computer to send that data.

Accurate heart rate reading compared to a EKG, touch to show the heart rate on the watch, other useful functions,

I was giving a two star rating for the 1060 with the main complain for the interferences in my previous review. However, after the recent event I have to revise my review and give the Sportline 1060 a five star. I was found a heart disease recently which causes the heart rate increases rapidly from ~70 to over 200 soon after exercising. In my previous review, I though the high numbers were from interferences instead they were real heart rate readings. During the visiting and diagnostics in my cardiologist's office, I had chances to wear the chest belt to compare the numbers against the EKG under varies conditions, lie down or running on the treadmill, the reading are pretty close under most conditions. The only time that shows major difference is when the heart rate reaches a high point and comes back down. The EKG's reading is coming down faster than the 1060's, assuming the EKG is right.
Also good features for this 1060, touch to show the heart rate and other useful functions as long as you know how to use it. Improvement, more detailed instruction in the manual or online. Must know for user, make sure the contact area on your skin is wet in a dry/windy day before getting sweaty. Wet your finger with water and touch the skin on the location for the watch or the chest area if wearing the chest belt.

I was very happy with this watch for the first week. However after the first week I noticed that the watch bezel plastic had started to scuff. On closer inspection I saw that the face plastic was very cheap and "soft". I rebuffed it and continued using it. Next I was hiking in the rain and when I got back from the hike, the inside of the watch face was covered in water. So much for "Waterproof 50M". I then opened the back of the watch and discovered that there was no rubber gasket to keep water out. It looked like they simply placed a line of oil or grease around the edges. Since it was so easy to open, I cleaned out the water and let it dry. So far it's working, however given the non existent water/sweat protection I don't expect much more from it.

Does not function properly in common workout environments,
By
This review is from: Sportline 1060 Unisex Duo Speed and Distance Heart Rate Monitor (Sports)
I use this product in spin classes, on the treadmill, etc, and have found that more often that not, it will stop giving me an accurate heart rate reading, instead indicating that my heartrate is 220 (meaning I'm more or less dead). I contacted Sportline to complain about this, and they said that that is a common problem caused by radio interference from electronic equipment (stereos, other heart rate monitors, etc.) that gets in the way of the watch communicating with the chest strap. So basically, this product cannot be relied upon to provide an accurate heart rate in the environment where you are most likely to want a heart rate reading.
I was disappointed both with the product and with Sportline's response to my complaint. I would recommend a Polar watch instead. I have had much better luck with that brand.

I purchased this watch for my husband who wanted a good heart rate monitor for exercise as well as a watch that tracked the calories he burnt during exercise. He uses it all the time, and really like the functionality of the watch.

The watch was quirky from day one. Functions would be difficult to trigger or would not trigger at all. For example, the power save fuction would not trigger and I had problems stopping and resetting the exercise timer. The heart rate monitor would have strange readings; for example would jump up to 170 when I knew my heat rate should be around 120. After a while it would immediately drop to 120 where it should be. I sent the watch back to the manufacturer for a replacement.

Buy a Garmin or other GPS-based Sport Watch,
By Jason J. Dodge (Windsor, ME United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sportline 1060 Unisex Duo Speed and Distance Heart Rate Monitor (Sports)
I have used this watch for almost two months. At first it was a bit hard to use as others have noted, but has only mediocre usability once you get used to it. The first issue I ran into was almost all functions are on different screens, causing the runner to waste time and focus. For instance, distance, pace and overall time are on different screens, when they should be on one.
The biggest weakness of the the watch is its (in)accuracy. I tested the Sportline against a Garmin 205 by wearing them both during a short run and found the Sportline read 3.58 miles, while the Garmin read 2.86 for a difference of .72 (or almost 3/4 of a mile). A few things to keep in mind: the Garmin is a GPS and the Sportline is not, and the Garmin I have is a few years old. However, the pace (~8:35) on the Garmin is much closer to what beginning and novice runners will run. Even though it isn't a GPS watch, the Sportline should be more accurate (I could deal with a .15 variance for instance). When training for longer races the watch is going to produce results with a greater gap between the actual stats and the watch stats. For instance, when I run 6 miles at 7:20 pace on the Sportline, the pace on the Garmin will be 8:30 or so (again which is closer to what a beginning runner will run). For the price, $119.99 at Dick's or ~$100 on Amazon, you could get a Garmin 205 (or other Garmin watch) with easier to read screen and GPS accuracy.
