4.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't take being dropped after awhile
I bought the Walking Advantage Sportline pedometer. It took some tweaking to get it working for me. I went to the High School track and walked around a quarter mile till I got it set so it came out EXACTLY .25 miles. After that , I felt I could really trust the mileage.

I LOVE the Sportline model for the features, the Omrom does NOT have.

This pedometer will show your step count, your jog or hiking count, your steps per mile, jog per mile, calories burned, total miles traveled, and it can automatically cycle through the data. It also has an auto off to save battery life when your not moving.

I was so excited to get this one but when I put it on it was so uncomfortable to wear. The top of the clip is angled a bit towards your body and the very top part is not rounded so it digs in. Also, there are deep ridges that look like they are there for a secure grip when removing the pedometer from your waistline. These ridges dig in when I'm sitting and rub when I'm walking or running.

If you wear your pedometer on your belt then your clothing will protect you, but if you wear it on your shorts or if you don't wear a belt this is probably not going to be very comfortable.

It's too bad the designers didn't think of comfort when designing the top of the clip because it shows a lot of info and it's a nice compact size.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too many modes, confusing menus, uncomfortable to sit with, December 10, 2007
This review is from: Sportline Walking Advantage 360 Fitness Pedometer (Sports)
I consider myself an experienced gadgeteer, but was baffled to figure out the menus on this thing. Sometimes you have to hold the button for 2 seconds, sometimes for 5 seconds. The mode button itself has multiple modes. The manual refers to the buttons by letter A B C not by their names, and guess what? The letters are not even in order! Then it has sharp edges which tend to dig into your skin when sitting down. And if you are over 280 lbs, the calorie counter feature will not apply to you as it has an upper setting limit of 280 lbs. As for how accurate it is, I cant say, as I cant figure out how to set the stride length, or how to have the display remain on the step count mode.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good pedometer, but not a secure clip, November 18, 2006
This review is from: Sportline Walking Advantage 360 Fitness Pedometer (Sports)
I have bought 2 of these pedometers. On the plus side, they are accurate. The information provided is excellent. Easy to use. Easy to open. On the down side, I've bought two because of an insecure clip. When I buy my next, it won't be this one only because of that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works well but confusing to figure out, May 13, 2010

This review is from: Sportline Walking Advantage 360 Fitness Pedometer (Sports)
This one was a gift, I didn't choose it. That said, I don't use the clip for this pedometer. I learned with my last one that the clips are undependable. Instead I always just place it in my pocket. As long as the pedometer remains upright - which it does easily unless I put something else in the pocket with it - it works great. It is confusing as heck to figure out though. I leave mine in step/mile mode because I'm afraid that if I try to use another function, I won't be able to get it back to step/mile mode. It has occasionally switched to kilometers and I have no clue why. I assume I pressed the wrong button or held the middle one down too long. It was annoying and confusing trying to figure out how to get it back. Now I only press the middle long enough to reset it each morning. It may very well have many other nice features, but I'm not going to bother trying to find out. If I ever choose my own, I will research it to make sure it's in the "Pedometers for Dummies" category.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stepping away from this one, April 12, 2010
This review is from: Sportline Walking Advantage 360 Fitness Pedometer (Sports)
This was my first pedometer. I don't like it for a couple of reasons. One, it simply is not accurate. One day I logged 13,000 steps on it. It did fine that day. The next day I ran on the treadmill for 3 miles, walked 2 and then walked my dog. Total distance measured by the end of the day was a little over 3 miles. That made me mad because I didn't get credit for what I had done. I log my runs in a trainers book and thought it would be neat to write down steps/distance at the bottom of each days page but I am not putting just any inaccurate number down. I use the log so that when I don't feel like running or get to feeling I haven't made progress, I can just look at my recordings and see all I have accomplished. I need that. This pedometer doesn't give me that.
My number 2 reason is that it simply isnt very comfortable to wear. I am slightly overweight but not by much and it digs into me when I sit down and I constantly would look down and notice it had come open. I think that if I were just walking and constantly wore jeans instead of a soft forgiving fabric like my work out pants it may just be a little more accurate. Of course that is just an opinion. I wonder if being on a treadmill changes its accuracy too due to the shock absorbtion. I wouldn't write this unit off but I do not think that it is right for my circumstances. I may try again with a different one but for now I will wear nothing at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fell off, broke, February 21, 2010
This review is from: Sportline Walking Advantage 360 Fitness Pedometer (Sports)
The actual device was fine, but the clip is crap and it fell off and broke. It had fallen off before and survived, but there is no good way to attach a line to it to tie it to a belt-loop. After this one broke I bought another, a different model of the same brand, with a clip that is larger and seemed more secure. That one just fell off and is now lost somewhere along my hiking route. I give up. They are not cheap enough to keep buying. I wish I could find one of the very old ones that had a metal alligator clip and actually stayed on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't take being dropped after awhile, April 3, 2009
This review is from: Sportline Walking Advantage 360 Fitness Pedometer (Sports)
I bought the Walking Advantage Sportline pedometer. It took some tweaking to get it working for me. I went to the High School track and walked around a quarter mile till I got it set so it came out EXACTLY .25 miles. After that , I felt I could really trust the mileage.

I LOVE the Sportline model for the features, the Omrom does NOT have.

The Sportline times your actual walking. And stope shen you stop. Gives you a read out of MPH which I like.

Best of all, since I work nights, it does NOT roll over to 00 at midnight!

However, on the downside, I WISH it had a clip for extra security to secure it so in case it came off me, it would not fall and get broken. Mine came off during bathroom breaks and broke , and made me sick. I was wearing it for a 9 mile hike, and really wanted to measure that!

Otherwise, highly recommended for all the features it has.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good pedometer for the price, January 15, 2007
This review is from: Sportline Walking Advantage 360 Fitness Pedometer (Sports)
I got this pedometer and I like it. It seems to usually be about 2-8% off in terms of steps but for me, that's close enough. I just want to get an overall idea of my steps and how much I'm doing on a day to day basis. For the price I think it's a good buy. The programming and settings are relatively easy to use.

It really is not accurate. When I attached it to sweats, it counted way too many steps. When I attached it to jeans, it was better, but still incredibly finicky. Get the Omron one with all the rave reviews. The only reason I didn't in the first place is that it was out of stock. As soon as it came back into stock, I bought the Omron model and the difference is NIGHT and DAY. Plus it's cheaper.

3.0 out of 5 stars Review of the Sportline 360 Fitness Pedometer, December 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sportline Walking Advantage 360 Fitness Pedometer (Sports)
This is the 3rd unit I have purchased in 1 year, the first one just fell apart. I use the unit daily, I find that if your battery holder rattles a lot the unit will reset with out warning, if you drop the unit it doesn't hold up well and typically resets. This unit needs to be more robost and manufactured to a higher standard.
