5.0 out of 5 stars Numb fingers don't matter, September 1, 2008

This review is from: Sportline Solo 910W Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Blue / Grey) (Sports)
This watch is great!! I have Peripheral Neuropathy, which causes my fingers to be numb, so I cannot take my pulse while exercising. I was told about this kind of watch by the Physical Therapist teaching the chronic pain management class I'm taking. I checked out Amazon, of course, and found a large selection. I liked the look of this one and am quite pleased. It's easy to use, has large enough numbers to read easily, even without my glasses, and it does all kinds of things, like count caleries, count steps, be a stop watch, and ... it even tells time. It looks good too!! Another lady in the class, who has the same problem finding her pulse rate while exercising, has ordered one from Amazon, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS WATCH! - It may have helped me avoid future heart problems!, February 6, 2009

This review is from: Sportline Solo 910W Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Blue / Grey) (Sports)
I am sorry that others have had trouble and hope I don't encounter the same. My experience so far has been 100% positive. I recently lost a large amount of weight and am trying to be healthier. It wasn't until I got this watch that I realized the impact of me not being fit had on my heart. Now I monitor my heart rate very closely, especially now that I know it tends to go faster than it should. My next personal fitness goal is to get my heart into a more acceptable range of function so it will last longer. I never would have been aware of how much I was over-working my heart until I saw the numbers on my watch. If you are concerned about your health or striving to improve your fitness, this watch is an exceptional tool, I very highly recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good for running, January 4, 2009
This review is from: Sportline Solo 910W Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Blue / Grey) (Sports)
I got this for checking my heart rate while running. It does not work for that. It works perfectly while walking or while taking a water break in an exercise class. However, it does not seem to register a heart rate while running or doing other high impact activities. You have to slow down to a walking pace to get a reading.

For being designed for women, it is also HUGE. I have it on the tightest adjustment, so that there is a long "tail" hanging off. Not a big deal, but kind of an annoyance. I'll be returning this.

If you are looking for something to check your heart rate periodically while walking, this is a good product. If you are looking for something to continuously monitor your heart rate, or to monitor your heart rate during vigorous exercise, keep looking.
