Editorial Reviews

Review

'Passion and commitment flows through the pages of this book with excellent and informative text, lavish colour photographs and clear plans, and sections showing how the company [HOK Sport Ltd] now successfully competes on a world stage.' - Building Engineer

About the Author

In his role as design principle Rod has great enthusiasm for the future of sport, leisure and entertainment design, and has a vision for the next century heralding a new breed of facilities, which will be more user friendly, better serviced and more exciting than any which have been built before. Rod is a frequent speaker at conferences around the world and has presented papers on many aspects of stadia and of large spectator venue design as well as being involved in numerous publications on the subject. He was the creator of the concept "Stadia Generations", which is now the established categorisation of stadia through history. His own award winning work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts and chosen by the design council for their exhibition of work by "Young" architects and described by the times in London a "triumph of high-tech architecture". His interest in new technology has lead to an involvement in conferences on the effect of technology on stadia and influenced his own design of "large audience venues". He was responsible for the design of the only stadium ever to win the prestigious 'Building of the Year Award" by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
