4.0 out of 5 stars Used properly, they work fine.
There seems to be some confusion about what the sports pack is supposed to do. It just adds a plastic extension to the remote that looks nice and gives you a better two handed grip. Yes, when the attachment is in place it does completely block the IR sensor. So you just use the four way key to navigate any menues. The games themselves do not use the IR sensor...

Putting the remote into the shell is easy if you remember to put the front in first, and tuck it under the front lip. Then the back slides down inside the rear lip. To remove it (say, to switch from batter to picher in baseball) just lift by the strap while holding onto the shell, and back the remote out from the front lip.
One thing to remember is that the extension adds lenght to the remote. This means that you need even more room to swing when you use one of them.
Bottom line: they're a nice little addition to make the games a little more fun. They won't change the actual game in any way, they just make waving that remote look a little less silly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wii, April 2, 2007
This review is from: Sports Pack Attachments for Nintendo Wii Console ~ Includes Tennis Racquet, G... (Electronics)
this sports pack is great for little hands, but if you are an adult hoping for a better grip on your wii controller, this may not be for you. You will need to take your wii controller out of these add-ons often which I can see eventually causing additional wear n tear on your controller which would otherwise not happen. The strap that you usually wear for gameplay will need to be taken off in order to use these to their best capasity. I will say though that this is a neat lil package that my 7 and 10 year old got a kick out of.

The sports pack I got delivered didn't have the golf club- it had a steering wheel instead, so be mindful wich sports pack you order if you really want the club.

We put the WII remote in the sports holder (Baseball) and couldn't play the game. It didn't pick up the signal. In addition, it is really hard to get the remote out of the holder -- I was afraid I was going to break the remote control. We haven't tried the others -- tennis or golf club. But since they are so hard to remove -- wasn't up for the test yet. Maybe "user error"...but don't think so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Increases fun factor for kids, wii sports is still the favorite game, May 4, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

Boo to the negative review about covering the IR sensor. When you play wii sports the IR sensor is not considered in the interaction. I know because I play wii sports with my nephew while I'm across at the other side of the LR.

I'd admit its corny for Adults but for the kids its a blast. Funny thing is that wii sports is still the game of choice when all the kids are visiting. I'd say this product increase the fun factor.

Their only function would be to physically represent the relationship between the controller and the "tool". For example, to make clear that the controller front is the tennis racket face. You learn this in a second and will never more need these - and will never more bother mount them on the controller.

Silly.

5.0 out of 5 stars And the Wii gets more fun!, July 17, 2009

It adds realism to an extend when playing the sports on the Wii. They could be bigger, but overall They are great for adding more depth to your game play! I haven't broken any parts, and trust me they've slipped from my hands many times. I fear more for my TV than anything! Great product!

Too hard to insert and remove the wiimote. Golf club head points in wrong direction. Bat and racket are fun to use, however both block the front of the wiimote, so you can't select from wii menu once wiimote is inserted. For me - not worth the trouble.

3.0 out of 5 stars Baseball Attachment, March 16, 2009
This review is from: Sports Pack Attachments for Nintendo Wii Console ~ Includes Tennis Racquet, G... (Electronics)
The baseball attachment flew off during my swing and cracked my Tv. Yes, it did click when I put it back on after pictching an inning. The attachment is not broken and it did click back on after it "flew" off. Watch it!!! You could break your television.

These add-ons are a cool idea, but honestly not worth the trouble. You have to take off of the sleeve, thread the wrist strap..etc. etc. I find myself feeling like it isn't worth the trouble. I just want to play the game already!!!!
