Book Description

October 4, 2003

Professional athletes at their worst.

Athletes are highly trained individuals whose superior conditioning, reflexes, and talents allow them to run, throw, skate, catch, aim, jump, and perform better than anyone else. That's why we enjoy the brief, fleeting moments when they perform more like mortal creatures.

Sports Bloopers is a collection of over 150 photographs that capture athletes in the most outrageous blunders, pratfalls, and slip-ups ever seen.

Highly recognizable athletes such as Derek Jeter and Robin Ventura make an appearance in Sports Bloopers.

Everyone makes mistakes. But not everyone makes them in front of millions of viewers. Sports fans of all ages will enjoy the antics and unexpected moments caught forever by some of the world's best sports photographers.

Almost every professional and amateur sport is represented here including football, basketball, hockey, track and field, baseball, golf, auto racing, and soccer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining natural action and reaction, July 2, 2004
This review is from: Sports Bloopers: All-star Flubs and Fumbles (Paperback)
This is a collection of photographs of sporting events. Many are shots of situations that occasionally occur when humans are moving and physically interacting. A hand in another's crotch, one person on top of another, a player pulling another's pants down, various tumbles and shots from angles that give unusual appearances. I enjoyed nearly all the photos, the only ones that I think should have been left out are the pictures of the streakers. Not because I take any offense at the nudity, but because having the photos in a collection just encourages that behavior. People run nude at sporting events to get attention and the more attention the more that they will do it. Most television producers have wisely adopted the policy of not showing anyone who deliberately interrupts a sporting event and the photographic journalists should do the same.
Outside of that objection, this is an entertaining collection of photos, showing athletes trying very hard at their profession, but in these cases, looking a bit silly
