Product Description

If you need to bring a lot with you on your next camping trip, we recommend the Escape4300 from TETON Sports. The pack has a lifetime guarantee and includes many features normally found only on more expensive packs. Though carrying a heavy load is never easy, this pack has thick padding on back, shoulders and waist to make the job easier. Tension adjustments on shoulders, chest, waist and torso allow you to get a precise fit, and the aluminum stays easily bend to the shape of your back, providing extra support right where you need it. Side butterfly expansion pockets are perfect for shoes or wet gear, and bottles will stay put in the mesh pockets because of the side compression straps. Like all TETON packs, the Escape4300 is hydration-ready with hydration ports and bungee attachments for drinking tube. The hood raises 12 so you can stash a rope, sleeping pad or tent, and you can use the external compression straps, hood eyelets, D-ring and daisy chain to strap gear to the outside of your pack. The Escape4300 even has zippered hood pockets for valuables.

Nice midsize backpack for a half of the manufacturer's price.

Can be loaded with various options, see my 3-heights comparison image, dark one, #7 in the gallery:
1) 25.5" - shortest (still with sleeping bag, pad, tent, etc) - limited by frame height, can be tried as carry-on in airports (official limit 22", but...);
2) 36" - normal pack; 3) 42" - technically possible on max lengths of straps for the floating top compartment, but not stable.

Some dimensions (tetonsports website doesn't provide too much):
Low/sleeping bag compartment fits up to 13"x9" bag when pushed;
Main compartment tube is narrower than expected: circumference = 36" (18"x2), 18-19" high (from zipped divider) + 8" upper sleeve;
2 side packets: 14x7x4 each, I can put a pair of my tennis shoes (small foot) in one packet.

Hipbelt: dual with dual adjustment straps, thinner than other belts - only 1/2" thick, but holds fine under heavy load.

Pros:
1) A lot of adjustments, straps, etc.
2) Dual hipbelt looks and feels cool.
3) Backpack can be brought to compact size: about 2500 cubic inches.
4) Nice and very light yellow rain cover, included in the bottom velcroed packet, completely covers backpack up to 36" height.
5) Adjustable rubber loops for a light sleeping pad (see my photo on the trail)

Cons:
1) main compartment tube entry is narrow.
2) fabrics, stitches, hipbelt buckle, zipper for sleeping bag compartment are not as sturdy as on my old backpack (the same weight but a little smaller volume), so I'll be careful and will not load/push my stuff into it too hard.

Overall, very good looking and feeling backpack, will see how it works in tough conditions.

I owned a very very expensive pack prior to owning this but it was stolen in june and im dead broke but was not about to blow my entire summer backpacking schedule because of it. I bought this first because of the price and second because it had 3 decent reviews and thought the worst that could happen is I could use it till fall and keep as a backup for friends and buy a "name brand" then. But I am completely blown away what I got for a hundred bucks, it is not as good as the $400 pack but is definitively not 1/4 as good, more like 4/5 as good. Basically it is missing a few, only few of the neat options a more expensive pack might offer. If you cannot afford a lightweight pack then this is for you, a very nice pack and that is coming from a 20 years hiker. last, it can get real big, i took it for three days and probably could fit a few more in but is good for an overnighter s well. oh and it has a built in rain fly so thats neat

I Took this pack to europe for a month and although it has the space and room to carry a heavier load the material and stitching don't allow for it, in the first week of owning seems where starting to spit and the shoulder strap was also starting to come undone.

I love this backpack. It is super light, and yet large enough to carry what we need. There is a place for your bedroll or sleeping bag, that you can access separately. I also really like the rain cover. It covers the entire pack, keeping it dry. We took this pack camping with us in Florida to Wekiva Springs State Park. Even my 11 year old was able to wear it. She didn't take it hiking, but she just had to prove she could hold it! Very well made and definitely worth the price!

The backpack is great its comfortable and its adjustable. I am 5'11 and it felt great I was able to adjust it to my size easily. The backpack can fit a variety of people. My friend took the back pack on a trip and she is 5'5 and it was very comfortable for her. This backpack has plenty of room and its great for people that like to do 3-4 day hikes. Some one who is an amateur hiker would love this backpack even a professional would fine great use to it. The backpack over all is light but very durable. I took it across a rocky terrain, snow, rain, and mud and the bag was great no issues with it. It has a rain coat that protects it and it does a great job.

Every thing I expected based on the reviews I read. Took it on a 2 day 20 mile hike. Packed it tent, bed roll, sleeping bag, cooking gear, food and change of cloths all about 28 lbs including a 3L blader. Was great shifted weight easy enough from shoulders to hips. Only one thing negative worth noting was one of the seams on the side pocket was starting to come undone. But I inspected it when I got it in the mail and noticed it before my hike and read another review that mentioned it also. Easily fixed though. All in all great bag for 2-3 day hike.

Works great! Comfortable. Fairly light. Lots of room. Load lifters really take the weight off the shoulders. Can't beat it especially for a novice backpacker.

I don't mind this bag but to be honest i should've went for something with more pockets, i also would've liked if it had a zipper for front access .. i also don't like the quality of the zippers, its too bulky and not as smooth.. and finally the Green, its nothing like the picture, its rather dull grayish green, some may like it but i sure don't.. otherwise its a decent pack
