Very mediocre,
This review is from: Sports Illustrated Almanac 2010 (Paperback)
I bought this because there doesn't seem to be an ESPN version recapping 2009 (at least not yet) and I am a big time stat junky so I figured it would be worth having. This book is very mediocre. It is missing a lot of info that is there in the ESPN version of books (why are there only stats for grand slam performance in tennis? How about overall tournament wins and money earned), has funky stat recording (why include seasonal MLB pitching stats from the late 1800s/early 1900s when the game was totally different then?) and there are A LOT of grammatical/spelling errors as well as statistical errors. The only positive of this book was that it was cheap but really, it is not worth owning.

No Winter Olympics?,

This review is from: Sports Illustrated Almanac 2010 (Paperback)
No section for the Winter Olympics in a Winter Olympics year. Seriously. There's a 36-page section titled "Olympics", and a picture of Vancouver in the introduction, but the rest of the section is devoted entirely to the Summer Games. Did they forgot to include the Winter Games or did they deliberately leave it out? Stupid either way. Otherwise, this almanac is thoroughly mediocre: Not enough sports covered, and that coverage shallow except for the major U.S. pro and college sports. A sports almanac should provide a ton of sports-record coverage, but you won't find much more here than you would in a regular almanac. Disappointing.

My husband loves anything sports related. As a prisoner, he enjoys all of the books I send thru Amazon. He looks forward to the Almanac every year. All the information in one place cuts down on the magazines being saved in such a small space.
