5.0 out of 5 stars Classy Item for Favre collectors
The front cover will take your breath away....sepia colors instead of the bright green and gold sadly remind you that the quarterback who came into our living rooms every autumn for the past 18 years has really retired. The expression on Favre's face, his hand closing the poncho tight at the the neck made me feel that his decision isn't making him too happy, either...

2.0 out of 5 stars Page condition
The book arrived on time, packed very well and at a fair price.
The only problem is that the pages are not flat-we have had the book beneath several others to try + flatten the pages but to no avail,
they are still "wavy". I think it's the book itself, as I said it was packed + shipped very well.

However, once you page through this excellent timeline of this football hero's career you begin to celebrate and gladly remind yourself that fans, teammates, coaches and those who weren't remotely interested in the NFL were very blessed - there is so much more to Brett Favre...and, I think there's more to come.

It was a thrill to see this in our local bookstore yesterday. It had arrived the night before and I'm hoping our Library will be the first to catapult it through tech services and onto the shelves! Kudos to Peter King for an excellent job of reporting.

I spotted the softcover version in the supermarket and took it home and thought it was very well put together. There are some great action photos and the writing is very good. It covers some of the more notible games that Brett played with great detail. A worthwhile buy of a book chronicling the career of one of NFL's most exciting players.

This book had some great stories and pictures about Brett without digesting an entire biography. It was a nice, fun and easy read and a great book that I am glad I have in my collection.

A few of the stories brought tears to my eyes. Reading about the Raiders game when Brett's dad had passed away the week before was touching. One can't help but think about playing catch with your best friend in the front yard and the encouragement of our parents when reading this story.

The introduction sheds some light on why the media just raved about Brett over the years.

If the stories weren't enough the pages of photographs are amazing, the kind of stuff I expect from SI.

This is a perfect book for a sports fan, great digestable stories and amazing pictures about an amazing football player.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read For Fans, April 14, 2008
This review is from: Sports Illustrated: Brett Favre: The Tribute (Hardcover)
After reading this book, I can see why the media and the sports world loved Brett. This book had some great stories and pictures. Definitely a collectors item.Reading about the Raiders game when Brett's dad had passed away the week before brought tears to my eyes. I can imagine how difficult that game was for Brett. This was a fun and easy read that sports fans and those interested in getting insight on a celebrities life will enjoy. I'm looking forward to reading Bobby Brown: The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing Butâ¦also. I read a few news paper articles about the book and it seems as though he discusses his rise to stardom and reveals the mistakes he made. Like Brett's book it's complete with a lot of photographs which I love. I believe pictures are sometimes worth a thousand words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brett Favre: The Tribute, October 28, 2008
This review is from: Sports Illustrated: Brett Favre: The Tribute (Hardcover)
If you love Brett Favre, you will love this book.

Sports Illustrated has compiled wonderful pictures taken of Brett from a young child, and brought it to the end of his career for the Green Bay Packers. We learn about Brett, struggles he faced, and watch him grow throughout this book.

Brett is not your normal, average high strung football player. He loves the sport and loves the game. This book explicitly depicts Brett's life, his world, and his wonderful talent.

This is a must have and gives you a great trip down memory lane. These are a collection of SI articles, starting from when Brett first went in for the injured Majik, to 2008. There is so much I had forgotten as he matured from the wild gunslinger to the manture leader we all love. I have many books on Favre and this one is especially good. It is written by professional sports writers who captured Favre at various moments in time. It is a great coffee table book, too, because the cover photo is stunning and fits in with any decor--even a sophisticated one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Let The Cover Photo Fool You, September 16, 2008

This review is from: Sports Illustrated: Brett Favre: The Tribute (Hardcover)
This is an excellent review of Brett Favre - a very intimate look at the best quarterback in the NFL today. The photo they used for the cover of the book is terrible. It may scare some people off from buying this book on Brett Favre. I was very pleased with the contents although the cover photo could have been much better. I think SI wanted to sell more single magazines at $7.99 each than this 242 page SI book that can be had for a little bit more money.
