Going through the 2006 calendars on Amazon, I also came across this, was a bit surprised at the low rating, and decided to put in a few good words of my own on this and the lovely creatures in it.

I don't own this version; I have the smaller, I think it's called 'desktop' version (which doesn't seem to be on here), with a photo for each week of the year, which features almost all of the shots from this wall version plus a heavenly host of others. I don't want to disparage other fans's reviews, but I find it surprising that anyone could like pretty girls and not be massively impressed by this calendar. If in doubt, just check out the images available above! With this, as with 2005 SI desktop, there's a bit less exposure than with some pin-up calendars but there's such a wonderfully flirty air permeating the whole thing it's fantastic. Smoldering in places too, the smoldering (see the December page) and/or playful looks in the eyes of the girls really give it extra power. And it's not devoid of a high risque factor in many shots; it doesn't show up as well on the scan but look closely and realize just how low Daniela Pestova (that's the blond beauty in the orange bikini) is slipping down her bottom half :)

Really great calendar with great use of different backgrounds (beach, forest, prairie, etc.) to establish a different ambiance for each shot (this is done in the smaller version too, with a really cute scene with Petra Nemacova holding a baby caiman and a magnificent Ana Beatriz Barros pic with these majectic treetopped mountains in the background), this is a super choice for anyone in the market for a great pin-up calendar, and try and get the desktop too; with any luck one of Amazon's marketplace sellers will backlist it on here soon.

I remember when buying the Sports Illustarted Swimsuit calendar was the highlight of my entire year. That in itself might be a sad commentary, but aside from that and in all honesty, the calendars have slowly slided toward mediocracy.

Sport Illustrated calendars feature high profile models year after year, yet the images are not as spectacular as you would imagine they should or could be. A very average calendar, definitely not the best one on the market anymore.
