I just received this pack, as I thought it would be a great pack that I could use mostly for mountain biking. It has lots of storage which is great for around my area as we have inclement weather most of the year, so I often need to take a rain jacket or other extra gear. Anyway, I would have loved it, but it is built for a much larger person. I am a 5'5 woman of average weight, and If I adjusted the straps to be small enough, the chest strap cut across my chest in an awkward place for a lady! However, It's going to fit my 6'4 husband perfectly, and he's going to love it as a Christmas gift, so I'm going to keep it. However, if you are a smaller man or woman, like under 5'8 or 5'9, I don't think this pack will fit you.

Cheers!

It's everything as described. The size is what I expected, I can fit everything I need but just barely. In the large pocket I carry a rain jacket, fleece & lunch bag, In the bladder compartment I can fit a small hiking book. The small pockets: binoculars, compass, wallet, phone, keys, and other small items. I wish it came in a 1500 (25L) size just for a tad more space. However, the smaller pocket flaps over so you can fit something in there and the cord was nice for holding my wet jacket. I've been on 4 day hikes with it so far in the White Mts, (8hrs the longest). I got caught in a downpour and the rain cover worked perfect. The only complaint is the water from the bladder tastes terribly like plastic the first few times used. It's getting better now, on my last hike it was barely noticeable. I haven't found a good way to clean it yet so I just rinse and dry after each use. I'm 5' 10" 180lb.

Follow up 7/15/13-After 12 day hikes the water no longer has the plastic taste (it actually went away after about 7 uses). The strap for the left chest buckle unthreaded after the 5th use. I couldn't sew it due to the design so I had to hand stitch it. It wasn't worth sending back just for that. I was disappointed about that but as a Manufacturing Engineer I know quality issues like this happen. I still love the pack!

I picked this out for my girlfriend about a year ago. I went with a different solution. I should have just bought myself one at the same time. Here it is about a year later and mine has never been anything but a huge hassle. While hers is still the best buy for the money. So I have bought me one too and couldn't be happier.

Pros:
It provides lots of storage space without the bulk of a regular sized back pack. It is not the awful colors of most popular hydration packs, The mesh over the shoulder straps and back insulation is large and great for air flow and breathability. excellent value for the money. The bladder works well, fills easily, dries easily, and is also easy to clean.

Cons:
Slight plastic aftertaste eventually. I think this comes from the tube itself but may be wrong on that. We also replaced the bite valve with the CamelBak Hydrolock Big Bite Valve and got a tube insulation sleeve.

It is a very good backpack. I used it for the 16 miles Grand Canyon one-day hike and it worked great. Maybe I should have bought a bigger bag but it worked out anyway. Don't buy it if you require more capacity!

For the price it's well worth it. Good bag with lots of room. Holds plenty of H2O!! Falls short on the bite valve. After one use it leaked. Had to buy the "other" brand's bite valve. Would buy it again. Delivery was on time!!

This will fit all you need for a day hike. The pack fits well on my back and provides sufficient ventilation. The water bladder works fine and it's not difficult to use. I've had it for 6 months now and I have no complaints. This is a great purchase.

I took this pack out for a day/ night camp of nothing strenous. The bladder some how has a hole in it? the zippers get stuck and im am just overall frusterated about the first time I bring my new pack out. It looks fine no scratches but just not the quality I was expecting.
