OK, I had this little guy about 5 hours... TIP - read the instructions and set the device away from your impact zone... I set mine about 6 inches from the ball... got a wild swing and sent this thing flying in 6 different pieces... don't do that!

Alright out of the box this thing did as it is advertised... measures your swing speed up to the point of ball impact and calculates backswing + top swing + downswing timing or referred to as swing tempo. It works... I'm shelling out more money to replace it and buy another one.

So is it just a gadget or can it help your game?... Well if you use this to measure your current swing speed and tempo and thus the progression of it as you improve, and not to set your tempo/speed or force you to increase either one... then yes it can help. Here is my experience... while it lived. I got so distracted by the read out that I would lose my swing and a good controllable tempo trying to get the readout I wanted...

What I finally had to do was set it to read tempo or speed only... this way I could zero in on a consistent tempo that resulted in a accurate and consistent shot... good for muscle memory and learning your natural timing... see the speed of the swing would mess me up (or test my ego rather) and I would swing faster and thus out of control... I found that the same tempo can produce a range of club head speeds... so having a good tempo is the foundation. Then adjusting the swing release can produce faster or slower club head speeds, but the tempo remains the same.

I recommend having a partner monitor the read out of the club head speed and tempo and mark it all down... I would rate the "feel" of my shots and tell my partner so that she would write down the tempo and speed as well as the "feel rating". This way I didn't get messed up trying to swing the club to get a particular speed just to get a higher number.

What I found in the end is that although I can swing a 7-iron 70 mph, I would be off tempo and the shot would be poor or inaccurate... I have more control when I am on tempo and swinging at about 55 mph. Thus this little guy help me realize that it wasn't my stance, my grip, or my ball position that would cause the occasional wild shot but me increasing the tempo and trying to hit it faster then I can control.

So yes this little guy can help you. Cool little carrying case with bag clip too!

It arrived on schedule and quickly tried it out in the house. I was not swinging too fast in the house and in the Swing Speed mode nothing registered. Called customer support and within 10 minutes I got a call back from Al who explained it had a minimum threshold of 40 mph in the SS mode. He spent over 15 minutes with me to test out all the other modes and shared tips for using it effectively. I was introduced to this training aid from John Novosel's book Tour Tempo that I also recommend. As noted, do not set it up too close or forward where it can accidentally get hit, and when you are ready to track your performance have someone with you to record the readings so you can concentrate on the swing.

This device provides excellent feedback, and a very convincing demonstration that swinging harder does not result in higher swing speed.

It works flawlessly as advertized!

I found the swing speed radar to be a very useful tool....accurate and not temperamental at all. My first swing startled me until it dawned on me that I was in the KPH rather than MPH, for a moment I thought Tiger was history. My primary use has been to test various drivers as well as swing change results. The last new driver I tested at a retail store's indoor booth gave outstanding results, until I checked and found they boosted the results via computer setting - so from now on, I take my swing speed radar with me. Since it's pretty hard to tell distance results on the driving range, I find this tool to be a cost effective method to measure performance, particularly when experimenting...instant feedback.

I purchased the swing speed with tempo timer. The item does what it says and it is really easy to use. Put the batteries in and push one button a couple of times and you are ready to go. The readings are accurate, as they match my swing speed in the golf shops. It also matches the swing speed as measured at a top 25 golf school. This is much more accurate than the swing speed gadget from Medicus that you clip on your club. With the Med. device set up as suggested, it reads 10-15 MPH faster than swing speed radar with tempo timer. We had to lower the club length with the Medicus device to 38 (from 45) inches to get it to read closely with SSRTT device. Be aware, Tech support has limited hours of operation, so if you work during the day, you may find it hard to get in touch with them should you need to.

The only two things I would point out that you should be aware of are: (1) if you have a quick wide(1-2 foot) waggle, you will set it off and will not get an accuarate reading, (you can use a small slow waggle); and (2) I have had several very high readings 148-160 at times. There is no literature to tell you why this occurs. My swing speed generally will vary from 103-112 MPH with the driver. The high readings appear to be the ball speed. I surmised this based upon a 1.40-1.50 smash factor. I have generally noticed that everytime I get these readings, I hit it off the heel and pull the ball. Why this causes the radar to pick up the ball speed I do not know. But, it is the unusual reading so it is no big issue. If you hit it anywhere close to the sweet spot, you will get an accurate reading. I have yet to try it with measuring ball speed. My understanding is that if your launch angle is greater than 12 degrees, it will not give you an accurate ball speed reading. But, the Co. makes no promise that it will with launch angles higher than 12 degrees.

Otherwise, it is very useful to determine if changes you make to your golf swing are helping or hurting your game. I would highly recommend it! I never go to the driving range now without it! Kaos

The radar works well and is worth the price. It has helped my swing and the timer, consistency. The truth is that club speed correlates well with distance, but form is even more important for overall results.

Works as advertised. I use it on myself, and also with my golfing buddies. Eveybody likes to know their swinng speed and tempo. Very helpful and fun.

Any golfer who wants to improve his performance needs to know what is the speed of his clubhead and how to increase it ,and therefore augment the distance you carry the ball .
When you train on a regular basis with the swing speed radar ,you quickly find outby trial and error what small or infinite changes in your grip, posture ,hip and shoulder rotation tempo ,foot and leg work ,relaxation of body etc..increase the clubhead speed .A must for all keen golfers who want to improve !
Very sturdy and reliable .Another radar ,the ZELOCITY radar , gives in addition the ball speed and the carry of the ball .

I have tested Swing Speed Radar against other speed meters on the market, e.g. Track Man. The measures from Swing Speed radar were 10% higher than Track Man!!!
