boring book and not good for counting,
By EmmaJ (La Jolla, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spot Can Count (Board book)
Okay, my son likes to lift the flaps, and he likes the pictures of the animals. But this is a lame counting book-- the tactile part (lifting the flap) is not connected to the counting. Generally under the flap is the "answer" (in words) as if someone learning to count to ten can already read. So instead of counting, the kids just rush to open the flap. Much better counting book is Carle's "Very Hungry Caterpillar" (they can touch each hole with a finger and count together with the reader), or "Ten Little Ladybugs".
Also, there is no story whatsoever, and the language is not compelling.

My two year old daughter loves this book! Perfect for learning her numbers and animal sounds. She requests it every night!

I don't get it, but my son loves it!,

My 4 yo son learned to read and count quite a while ago, so when he picked up this very simple counting book, I thought it would bore him. Not so, he loves reading this book. Is it good for learning to count? Probably not the best. But does it entertain my kid? You bet!
