Our son is almost three and he loves Spot. When we bought our first Spot video, we were concerned he might not like it as well because the animation is very unsophisticated by today's standards. It just goes to show you that you can't apply adult rationale to discern a toddler's preferences. Spot videos are by far his favorite.

This one has a number of charming stories including a trip to the farm where he is looking for all the baby animals. The new version is a reworked version of the original which came out in 1993. My only problem with the new version is that after each segment they decided to throw in a Sesame Street style teaching session where politically correct children teach various lessons with the help of a narrator.

While I have no problem with this format (these learning formats can be valuable), it interrupts the continuity of the program and imposes a lesson on the child that reduces his/her enjoyment of the video. Spot contains many implicit lessons for children and it really doesn't need to be "enhanced" with an explicit teaching session. This is a classic case of well meaning Disney executives feeling compelled to fix something that wasn't broken and diminishing it in the process. When the children come on, my son says, "I don't want children, I want more Spot." After a few viewings, I began fast forwarding through the children to get to the next Spot segment.

The 1993 version isn't "new and improved". It is just pure Spot without the children's segments, so I recommend you buy that one.

My 10 month old son has been captivated by Spot for over three months now. These videos feature large simple figures on plain backgrounds making it easy for little ones to comprehend. The songs are delightful. I can catch my son's attention by singing Spot songs no matter what he's doing. It's hard to believe a child so small can be SO captivated but Eric Hill et al do a wonderful job with their videos. My son likes Spot Goes to a Party also. I just bought Sweet Dream, Spot before submitting this review. Hope you and your child enjoy Spot as much as we do.

My 18 month old son loves Spot and he watches this video everyday! It holds his attention (amazing for such an active little boy) and he laughs, points at the tv and is completely immersed in the stories. I highly recommend this educational and fun video for parents and children alike!

My grand daughter and I have spent many hours viewing vhs. Spot is without a doubt one of the best examples of lowkey teaching. The wonderful little stories fascinate the toddler, and spot is so simple to understand. It's a marvelous way to spend a little time together.

My two year old daughter loves Spot! We watch this video over and over! It is simple enough for the youngest of toddlers to enjoy. Plus, I love the short story-lines. You can't go wrong with this video! I am ordering all of the Spot videos available!
