The dullest of the Spot movies,

My 2 year old son loves the original Spot movie -- Spot on the Farm. So, I bought this one -- and it is too slow for a little kid. Not much happens, and the entire video is one story, unlike the others that offer 4 vignettes of a child's adventure. Both of us were bored, and he never asked to see it again.

Trusty Spot provides lots of entertainment for my kids. Even my 4 year old will still watch this episode. They may be somewhat slow moving, but in my opinion it is not necessary to have young kids moving at MTV speed just yet. If you are looking for a kids video with no scary parts for the 1-3 year set, the Spot series is excellent!

This is a great video that my 1 1/2 year old son requests to see once a day. It's about going to and being in the carnival with his grandpa, grandma, and his friends. My son can now say grandpa, grandma, spot, etc.

A cute movie for young children. Stresses love for family and friends and helping one another in a simple fashion for toddlers.

In my Spot's Magical Christmas review, I mentioned at the end that we'll see how this video holds up against it. Well, the video arrived two months ago and I kinda forgot about the review until now, which I shall state my thoughts.Following the tradition of Spot's Magical Christmas, the characters in this special also has distinct voices (about as distinct they could get - some of the casts were doing double duty, but managed to pull it off well nevertheless) and their lips move to their speech. It kinda carries down the charm of Spot's Magical Christmas and has about the same format with a little extra humor thrown in and the fantasy stuff taken out - Spot happily heads over to his Grandpa's place, sings a song about how grandparents are great and such (lyrics and music sheet available on the activity book of the production), learns that his grandpa was a fireman, cleans up an old fire engine, heads to the parade, and helps out the band (which, among the troupe, consists of Helen's mom, and while not mentioned, also one of Steve's parent, and Claire's mom), and we learn Tom's dad is a sideshow performer. It's a fun movie, and unlike Spot's Magical Christmas, more down-to-Earth and less fantasy. So is it worth it? Definately. It's a cute video, the voices are pleasant, and there's enough content in it to keep it funny and interesting. I dunno, maybe it's because I'm crazy about Spot, but I feel it's a good movie. And I like it. 5 RAM chips, two thumbs up, etc. |
