4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not as good as `Where's Spot?'
Although `Where's Spot' is my son's absolute favourite book, this did not meet with the same degree of enthusiasm.

That's not to say he doesn't like it, just not as much as `Where's Spot?' ... maybe it's the repetitive text in that one or maybe the novelty value was worn down, but both `Spot goes to the Farm' and `Spot Visits his Grandparents' seem to work as...

1.0 out of 5 stars Teaches a bad lesson
My son loves Spot books and enjoyed this book the one time we read it, however, I am completely disappointed with a few pages in this story. Spot and his grandpa are playing ball outside, they break a window, go inside and when the grandma asks what they are up to, they reply with "nothing". What a horrible example to set for children. I am so disappointed that Eric Hill...

All in all, I'd say buy this book, but with `Where's Spot?'

1.0 out of 5 stars Teaches a bad lesson, July 29, 2010
This review is from: Spot Visits His Grandparents (color) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am so disappointed that Eric Hill would write something like this and that all of the editors and whoever reviews these books, over-looked this major flaw. It would have been better if they were honest about it and told the truth instead they lie about it! A children's book that teaches children how to lie, simply awful. We read this book once and I had to explain to my son how wrong it was to lie about breaking the window. This book is no longer allowed in our home. Children learn so much from books, we as parents need to make sure that they are getting quality material. It is sad that I am the only one thus far to write a negative review based on the story line.

Learned to read with these books growing up, now buying them for my daughter. The artwork is adorable, and the story is great! Definitely a good book to share with kids!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spot - fun and educational, July 7, 2006
My toddler daughter loves this book. She enjoys the pictures and themes (grandparents and grandchild spending quality time together) and routinely selects this book herself. This Spot book has large lift-the-flaps which makes it easy for even a baby to manipulate. Through repetition and pictures, my daughter has learned words such as dog, ball, and bird. I have been pleased that she has learned new words from the book, and I also enjoy the story itself which reminds me of the innocent time of childhood summers with grandparents!

5.0 out of 5 stars First Graders Just LOVE the Spot Lift-the-Flap Books!!!, November 2, 1999
By A Customer
We are first graders and we LOVE the Spot books! Our names are Philicia Swanson, Anderson Davis, James Renford, Ann Marie Remacle, and Derek Curry. Our favorite Spot book is Spot Visits His Grandparents. Philicia and Ann Marie like the part when Spot shows Mom her ball from when she was a puppy. James, Derek, and Anderson like the part when Spot throws the ball and the window breaks. We hope Eric Hill will write 100 more Spot Lift-the-Flap books!!!!!
