5.0 out of 5 stars The coolest flashlight I have ever owned
This flashlight ALWAYS works. when I go hiking I throw this small light in my pack because it always has a fresh charge from being stored in my cars cigarette lighter. We have come down off of a mountain late many times and when my friends flashlights batteries die this always gets us down.
Super lightweight, compact, and very bright.

please be aware that if you order this item you may have to return it. the accessory outlet and power outlet in vehicles are of 2 different designs ( unfortunately ) and there-in lies the problem. even with the "fit clip" the flashlight still may not work. i ordered 2 flashlights for 2 different vehicles ( a tacoma and a hhr ). flashlight does not work in the tacoma, with or without fit clip, in either socket but it does work in the hhr (without the fit clip). the flashlight is a great idea just poorly executed. it needs to be slightly larger in diameter itself to fit tighter in the socket and the power connection needs to have a tip such as found on the fit clip. had the flashlight had these 2 changes, it would work in the tacoma. the company needs to have a listing of what vehicles the flashlight works in ( with or without the fit clip ) or re-design the flashlight. this is just my opinion but the biggest problem with the flashlight is the way it fits so loosely in either socket. hence the need to be larger in diameter.QuikLite Dashlite Re-chargeable Flashlight (12V Plug)

3.0 out of 5 stars Does not fit 2010 Forester sockets, April 16, 2010
I always keep a flashlight in my car, usually a mini-mag light in the glovebox.
I like the idea of these small accessory socket lights, as far as they are always ready, however this light does not charge inside my Subaru Forester accessory socket, even with the snap-on adapter. It seems too loose to make contact with the side of the socket.

I am giving this three stars due the bright light, good overall construction, and the fact that I salvages the purchase by giving the light to my wife, where it fits in her car's accessory socket.

Also this unit uses a NiMH battery, which may sound inferior to the lithium ion batteries that some other lights use, but it is NOT. Lithium Ion batteries are NOT made to take high-heat, such as a car left out in the summer sun.

When you receive your eGear light, you will wonder how something this tiny can put out any light. But, rest assured, the LED light is very bright! It comes charged and tucks nicely into the power outlet in your car. It's so small that it blends right in and aside from the reassuring red light that shows it is charging, you will barely see it. It gives out plenty of light to read a map in the dark and for people like me, find things under the seat. It comes with an adapter so it should fit any power outlet. The Spotlight is very nice looking and is a quality product.

4.0 out of 5 stars CAN be a great flashlight, but it's a gamble., October 25, 2010
Pretty much rehashing what's already been said here. The concept is great, a compact, well built flashlight that's very bright (for it's size) and always ready to go because you can leave it in your car's outlet without worrying about overcharging. Based on that alone, I would have given it 5 stars.

BUT... when you buy one, it's a gamble whether it'll work in your car or not. (did not work in our Honda Ridgeline, but fits perfectly in a 2005 Mazda3). Spotlight will be the first to admit it was designed to fit in cigarette lighter sockets, however, most cars don't have them anymore, they have 12v power outlet. While cigarette sockets were standardized, there is much leeway in power outlet construction. This leeway doesn't hurt plugs that have springs on the side and can adapt to slight differences, but this flashlight is designed for an exact fit. Without the exact fit, it doesn't make contact and can't charge. While it's great that Spotlight acknowledges the problem, they need to fix it, cars haven't been coming with cigarette lighters for years.

In their defense, they have some fixes available, but they're not great. The flashlight comes with an adaptor ring that snaps onto the flashlight. Be careful as the ring can snap on 2 ways to make it a little wider or a lot wider. I first put it on the bigger setting, and it was so jammed into the socket I couldn't pull it out with my fingers and needed to use pliers. On the smaller setting, it fit ok; there was a bit of wiggle, but it was not rolling around or about to slide out. However, it only made sporadic contact with the outlet so didn't charge frequently.

At this point, I contacted Spotlight to give them my opinion. They acknowledged the problem and sent me (no charge) their other solution, the Super socket (see link below). It's basically a plug with the standard side springs to work in any outlet, it has two outputs; one output is a standard 12v outlet, and the other is specifically designed for their flashlight. This setup should guarantee compatibility with any vehicle. While it did fix my problem, I don't really like it. The Spotlight itself sticks out of an outlet by only a few millimeters giving it a clean look without attracting attention. The Super socket (with Spotlight inserted) sticks out a couple of inchs; I don't think it looks good, am worried it may get knocked and broken, and concerned thieves could see it an think it's something more valuable (gps, mp3, etc). Also, I wish the Spotlight was held a little more firmly in the Supersocket. I have NOT had any problems with the Super socket, it just seems to be a fine line between the Spotlight being in and being out.

As mentioned above, the flashlight alone is 5 stars, however, I was going to go down to 3 due to the fitment issues, but Spotlights excellent customer service brought back up to 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, September 7, 2011
This review is from: Spotlight Rechargeable Flashlight (Sports)
My boss bought all of the staff one of these for Christmas gifts last year - and everyone loves them. I have since bought several as gifts for guys who have everything. I have had no problem using this in either my F150 or Dodge Ram. And differing from what another reviewer noted it works in the Honda Ridgeline. I did break the plastic fit clip - but it still charges in my truck, not sure if that would be a problem in other vehicles. I love it because for my job I need to have a flashlight handy on occasion and this fits in my pocket and when I get to job sites its charged and ready to go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits in Some Sockets, Adapter Needed in Others, September 3, 2011

I'm very happy with this little gizmo. I'll share my observations about how it fits in various vehicles. It seems to fit perfectly in every "cigarette lighter socket". In other words, if the socket is actually made for a cigarette lighter, then this light will fit without the need for the adapter. This is true in my Audi, Land Rover and Jeep. I was also pleased to discover that it was just the right length to fit in the cig lighter socket and I can still close the sliding cover over the ash tray in the Audi. Same thing is true for the Land Rover (except it has a flip cover over the socket). All three vehicles also have 12v power sockets that are not made for cigarette lighters, but are very similar. The difference is that the power sockets are slightly larger diameter and slightly deeper. So, the adapter is needed to make the light fit in the power sockets. The adapter did the trick in all three vehicles' power sockets. And the adapter fits securely. No need to worry about it popping off accidentally. I will be ordering 3 more (1 for the Audi's cargo area, 1 for the Land Rover and 1 for the Jeep). It would be ideal if they could make it work without the adapter. But if they did, it would probably be too long for me to be able to close the sliding cover over the ash tray.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little light, June 24, 2011
These are great little lights. Just the ticket for emergency use or for looking for something that might have fallen under a seat.
Bought one for my vehicle and liked it so much I bought two more. Put one in my wife's car and one in my daughter's car.
My vehicle and my wife's are Ford products so the lights fit the cigarette lighter sockets perfectly without the need for the adapter clip. However my daughter's vehicle is a Nissan and the light fits loosely in the lighter socket even using the adapter clip. This is the only downside to an otherwise great product. Had to knock off one star in the rating because of this.
