I bought this to supplement my coursework. The book and the kindle format BOTH get 5 stars. What makes this only a 3 star offering is the fact that the book references example files and programs that are ONLY accessible from the CD (which doesn't come with the Kindle edition) I even spoke with the publisher and they weren't much help in obtaining them. Would be THRILLED to alter the review if ANYONE can tell me how to get those additional resources...

I used this textbook for a class I took in Quantitative Anlaysis and strongly recommend it to anyone who feels the need to learn how to apply math to their business environment.

I found this an excellent introduction to both the modern approach to analytical business problem solving and the use of Excel Solver to make such analysis quick and easy. As might be expected from a text book, their are many references to other works that enable a more in-depth study of the mathematics behind the methodologies. I found it a good quick reference to modern business analysis as practiced today.

This book is well explained, however it needs improvement on exercises and examples. The CD is worthless. Not worth the money buying it with CD.

I love this book. Since using it in my Decision Science class I have been able to create analytical reports in my work in Finance and Insurance that are simply unbeatable by my coworkers. I have been asked many times where I learned to do so much with Excel. You will become more competent with this book. Even the basic lessons will really aid you in data mining, forecasting, presenting decision analysis, and solving constraint problems that require you either minimize or maximize your business resources.

Just received this book this evening. Two pages coming out of the book without CD or any access cards along with. Feel cheated as the description clearly mentioned both. Wouldn't recommend the seller based on my experience.

This book is one of the recommended textbooks in BI modelling subject at the uni.
There are no questions about the authors profound knowledge on the subject.

All the models it discussed presented with an easy to understand layout along with a pretty smooth walk through.
The book also provides intelligence on solver's view point on a given model and I have had this feature help me to correct certain type of issues that otherwise would lead into incorrect optimizations.

As for my personal opinion I would say possibly it would have been better if the author provided a single optimized figure (not the whole model) for some case scenarios in questions and answers sections.
e.g. case 6.2 chapter 6

Had to buy this book for a class in grad school and I love it. Best examples of how to construct and utilize models. Problem descriptions, sample sets, and presentations (on PowerPoint disk) make it a gem to use. I loaned the book out and never got it back. Invested the money again to have it on my shelf.

If you are expected in your job to be the Excel wizard, this is the book you want to keep that reputation.

Received the book in a very short turn around and it looks as though the book has hardly been opened. Perfect condition.

Shipping was fast and book was cheap. Came in same condition specified. Would buy from this seller again.
