5.0 out of 5 stars A Recycled recycling truck? Don't mind if I do!
Thank you, Sprig, for continuing to create eco-friendly products that are reasonably priced, durable, and highly enjoyable. My 22 month old son is enamored with his Sprig trucks, and we love them, as well. Light weight- easy to transport to the beach, etc. Durable- gets dropped, kicked, and rammed into things. Hasn't shown so much as a scratch. Smells LOVELY. I keep...

this was bought for our year old boy who loves trucks. he carries it around by the handle on top, pushes it, makes truck noises for it, spins the wheels. he also has dropped it down a short flight of stairs. pretty sure this was the start of the truck falling apart - not even a week after he started playing with it. the back end that opens and closes had broken off. a few...

I keep sniffing it. Sprig integrates wood chips into the trucks, so they smell like a real wood shop. Sniff sniff. Awesome. This truck comes with a small blue bucket that can attach to the back, for filling and dumping. As with his other Sprig truck, the bed of the truck can be locked into place by a slider bar underneath- very convenient for letting younger children enjoy the truck, without getting frustrated.

And speaking of frustration, I love the Frustration-Free packaging. My husband simply slit the top of the box from Amazon open, and let our 22 month old have at it. He got the truck out of the box, and out of its' packaging, in under a minute, and was very proud of himself. Good job, Amazon. Keep it up! You are saving countless parents a lot of headache, especially on Christmas Eve- in our house, Santa sets up the toys he brings, which has resulted in a lot of cursing and swearing. Last year was wonderful, with the Frustration-Free products we got. Thanks again!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really loads up & Really dumps!, November 2, 2009

Great little toy! Our son loads up the removable 'blue-bin' (just like ours at home!) and sets the bin in the loader, an easy flip of the butterfly-knob... and Voilà! Recyclables in the bin are recycled in the big-box! So cool. When he is a loaded up, he pulls the big lever and dumps away. Totally stoked on this little truck... love the real lessons we can teach and Oscar can put into practice... and it is made of recycled stuff too! Well done.

My 2-year-old daughter adored this truck, and so did I! She and her older brother spent hours loading it with bits of paper as trash, then dumping it out again. All it took for the whole thing to break, though, was sitting on it lightly once---the large rear hatch broke off (only held on by two small loops of soft plastic), and the plastic pin that locks the dumping compartment in place broke, making it impossible to use. I rigged it back up again with a twist tie (to keep it from dumping unpredictably) and a lighter (to melt the plastic ring back into place---who knows how long this will last!), but I wish it had been more durable.

This is a great toy and my two year old son loved it...but the little mechanism to hold the "dumper" broke when he pushed on the handle without releasing the lock on the side. It's too bad because it is a really neat toy. I do have some other toys from this company that are fantastic and durable...maybe I just received a bad apple...oh well, at least I can just drop it in the recycle bin.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for a friends 3 yr old son when I saw it on sale for $9.99. My friends son immediately loved it and starting playing with it right away, ignoring the other toys he received. He spent hours filling it up with paper bits, driving it around the living room and then recycling the paper (as he put it). Overall, I think that this truck is made well, felt sturdy and I love that it's a recycling truck made from recycled materials. And the minimal packaging was a joy as well. I definitely plan to order from this line again.

I purchased this for my soon to be 5 year old. I checked over this truck and has many neat "dumping" modes. It is sure to please my child. I like that is is made from recycled materials as well. My only complaint is that is does have a faint odor of some kind...but I'm sure it will fade, and I'm not sure of it's durability. It seems durable to some degree, but how much play can it handle? I purchased this on sale at half price and am happy with the price I payed. I would have passed on it at the full price of twenty dollars...a bit much for this toy. It does look like fun, and though the durability is in question, at half price..I am pleased, and I'm sure my child will love this when he finds it under the Christmas tree.

My son (2 years old) enjoyed this garbage truck until the back end broke off. You can tell by the construction there are weak points at the turning joints - thin round hooks that snap. One busted and he could no longer keep the back end properly in place. I wish I could return it, but alas it's too late.

Pros
--Interesting design with many options for manipulation: cabin opens, trash container can be used to deliver small blocks (or other "garbage" objects) inside truck, contents of entire truck can be dumped out as well!! It is also a dump truck.
--Made in Czech Republic from recycled material:)
--My toddler loved it...and still loves, but

Cons:
--Fragile at the junction of the doors to the main part of the track. These hinges broke withing 1 week...similar to some other reviewers.
--Not produced any more

We contacted company for replacement. Response was prompt and understanding. Representative immediately offered to send a replacement. However, she indicated that they don't make this model any more, but they could send another truck. We picked Dinosaur adventure Truck...website says it is made in Mexico...I specifically indicated that I don't want to have a product made in China. They say,--yes of course. Then we received replacement truck...my toddler loves it as well...it's sturdy and fun...but it is made in China. I think they started out well...and then transfered all the production to China. Now I am looking out for Green Toys products instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars eco friendly toy, December 28, 2010

This toy is very light in weight. There is a handle on top and my son pushes this garbage truck around. This garbage truck actually works. It comes with a small bucket in the back of the truck and you dump the bucket in the truck. The truck itself also can dumps its contects with a lever on the side ( but my son is only 15 months and he can't do this feature yet) But this garbage truck is so cute. I would recommend this toy.
