4.0 out of 5 stars The best yet in the series

PROS

--Fun, dramatic and exciting reading with lots of character-driven plot and character development. All the characters grow and develop a lot throughout the story.

--This book seems to de-emphasize money and appearance, especially as Kendall learns that being a shopaholic is destructive. (I felt the first book focused a little...

This book is so unrealistic. First, Lelani getting custody of her baby and just taking her back to Oregon would never happen. And Kendall not knowing anything about being pregnant? Come on. We're not 12. This is just dumbing down a book about 20 something's to a junior high level. And Megan is so stiff and judgmental in her beliefs. I don't know anyone who has ever acted...

PROS

--Fun, dramatic and exciting reading with lots of character-driven plot and character development. All the characters grow and develop a lot throughout the story.

--This book seems to de-emphasize money and appearance, especially as Kendall learns that being a shopaholic is destructive. (I felt the first book focused a little too much on designer clothes and expensive makeup.)

CONS

--In book 2, Anna seemed at best not interested in her Catholic upbringing and at worst maybe ever-so-slightly offended by it, admitting she's "not sure" if she believes in God or fully believes in her religion. In book 3 (this one) she's staunchly pro-life because abortion is "against [her] religion." I thought she wasn't sure about her religion?

--Wow, Megan is an (unbelievably) good missionary. She won over Lelani in book 2 and it seems like Kendall's close to believing too (also helped by the new devoutly Christian boyfriend she met in Maui). "Missionary dating" has turned Marcus from a not-so-committed maybe-believer to a regular churchgoer and prayer partner. We don't need to worry about Catholic Anna or her boyfriend Edmond (who is apparently Episcopalian, we learn in this book). Who's left? Gil? In book 2 he at least said he was "open," so it won't take long.

I know it sounds dumb, but in real life people get very offended by Christianity. You'd think at least one (or more) of the gang would not be so "open" to it.

**Overall, a fun read, and I can't wait for the last book!**

Melody Carlson's 86 Bloomberg Place series is an interesting, clean read. The women and their different personalities keep your interest. Couldn't stop until I finished the series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite, February 7, 2011
This book is so unrealistic. First, Lelani getting custody of her baby and just taking her back to Oregon would never happen. And Kendall not knowing anything about being pregnant? Come on. We're not 12. This is just dumbing down a book about 20 something's to a junior high level. And Megan is so stiff and judgmental in her beliefs. I don't know anyone who has ever acted like that. Finally, for Gil and Lelani to go from barely dating to being engaged in three weeks is ridiculous. I know this is fiction, but at least make it somewhat believable. I went from reading this book to skimming it and finishing it in an hour. What a waste of my time if I had read it.
I have hopes that the last book in this series will be better, but I don't know.
I'm not trying to be harsh, but I've read a lot of chick lit and Christian fiction, and this is some of the worst.
