About the Author

Norman C. Fassett was professor of botany and curator of the Herbarium at the University of Wisconsin from 1925 to 1954.   He was a pioneer in preserving habitat of  the rich and diverse flora of Wisconsin. He  is also the  author of Grasses of Wisconsin and A Manual of Aquatic Plants, both published by the University of Wisconsin Press. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

I've been using this simple key since I was a college student in Minnesota over forty years ago. Although I now own several large comprehensive keys, this is the first key I try, even though it may not be spring and I now live in Connecticut. It will usually send me quite easily at least to a family, probably to a genus, getting me through what might be the most annoying portion of my larger keys.

This book has an amazing Key at the front, has great descriptions and is a pleasure to use
