Ruth Heller's "Snowflakes" is the best book I've ever had!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Designs for Coloring: Snowflakes (Paperback)
I first found this book at a yard sale. The original edition goes by a different title, but the illustrations are identical. I am a telemarketer putting myself through school as an art major, and for me this book has kept me sane! I highly recommend it for anyone who has to sit for long periods of time, as the act of coloring her beautiful designs is both soothing and exciting. Definitely a five star book!

HORRIBLE PAPER FOR COLORISTS!,
By
This review is from: Spring Has Sprung (Designs for Coloring) (Paperback)
I love all of Ruth Keller's pictures! I have every one of her coloring books and color her beautiful pictures with artist grade colour pencils! I purchased this book as a collection of several of her individual books, for the purpose of coloring some of my favorites over again without having to purchase additional copies of the original books. I could not be more disappointed in the paper in this book. Pages are manila in color instead of the usual white or off-white that lends itself to allowing the colors to stand out as they should. Moreover, the paper is extremely thin... actually, it's painfully thin. I found that I was unable to use a blender without putting wear into the paper, and even worse, I was unable to erase even the lightest spot without smearing. This is probably a fine book for children to color in with crayons, but it is definitely not for serious colorists! Thank you for allowing me to share my opinion.

Geometric Designs Coloring Book,

I like the designs. They are both intricate and soothing to the eye. The publishers use a heavy weight paper and there are only one design per page. Good book.

as an adult who loves to color, I found this book to have very few pages and not a lot of variation for the price

This is a longer coloring book than her usual books and it combines THREE of the other books she has published but with new designs added. I should have known from the price of this book that the paper was going to be different than Heller's other coloring books. The designs are fabulous as always but the paper is what you would find in the cheap-o Disney coloring books. The designs are on both sides of the sheet so if you even think about using pens prepare to lose half of the designs. I LOVE Ruth Heller and this is NOT a negative review I just want to make sure that you know this is not made with the same thicker, bright white paper as her shorter coloring books. That is all! :)

I'm an adult who collects this type coloring books. I find coloring with colored pencils very relaxing. I use Primsicolor pencils and for these intricate ones the Very Thin Primicolor are the best. They have them great price right here at Amazon.
This is now in my top then favorites. Any adult collector with treasure this book. |
