5.0 out of 5 stars zipping fun needs lots of setup
Attaching the cable is alot more work than explained in the directions. If there are not two trees spaced the needed distance, a very sturdy post and support must be built. The "drop" needed for a good ride is also more than the instructions called for. One end of our line had to be 15 feet off the ground with the other end at 5 feet in order to ride even...

3.0 out of 5 stars Plastic Body a Bit Cheezy
Shipped out very quick and was delivered just fine. Zip Line works quite well, but housing supporting pulleys is plastic and will not last - already showing significant wear at cable entry and exit after just a few months.

Kids tend to be pretty rough, so housing will not last. However, they are having a blast and due to pulleys being nylon, the ride is not...

Attaching the cable is alot more work than explained in the directions. If there are not two trees spaced the needed distance, a very sturdy post and support must be built. The "drop" needed for a good ride is also more than the instructions called for. One end of our line had to be 15 feet off the ground with the other end at 5 feet in order to ride even 50 feet without "stalling out" in the middle. The end secured to a tree is slowly killing the tree since it had to be secured so tight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Endless hours of fun; for big kids too..., October 25, 2001

We have this mounted between a tree and our boat dock on about 150' of cable (I did not use the 70' piece that comes with it). I have 4 kids, ages 8, 10, 13, & 14. Whenever friends come over they are always playing on this, sliding out over the water to our boat dock. It has had countless hours of use and abuse for 2 years. I'm only replacing it to help guarantee its safety (not disintegrating enroute). It still works ok, but is getting a bit "ratty", and occasionally sticks on the cable because it is worn between the sides and the pulleys; giving room for the cable to "skip the track". Highly recommended, but be safe.

4.0 out of 5 stars Snapped Screw on Zip Line!, June 20, 2002

We've enjoyed this product for a year, but yesterday a visiting friend had an accident caused by this "Fun" Ride. The end peice shown, an oval with two screws, that you use to tighten the line, snapped when a trim 7 year old boy was on it. This should have held a grown man! We got the deluxe, just to be on the safe side with weight of users. He got a deep cut on top of his head, a bruise, and obviously a scare. This is not how I like to spend our playdates, and his father had to leave work. My husband put this toy together, he is a skilled craftsman, it wasn't put together incorrectly. I have yet to inform the company of this accident at our home, (that is why I logged on today, to get their info) but I hope that they address the problem. Good luck, and be careful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Full Disclosure, April 4, 2005
This review is from: Spring Swings Deluxe Fun Ride (Colors May Vary) (Sports)
While I am sure that this product will be a huge hit in our household, we have yet to assemble it. I was not aware that depending on the size of your tree, you may have to buy an additional strap extension for another $11. So, as a word of warning, you'll need to measure your tree first before you order the product. Be prepared to pay more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing to warn you that you can kill your tree!, April 26, 2008

I agree with other reviews that there is a lot more to the setup than instructions provide. One very important detail is that if you wrap something tight and abrasive around a tree limb it will eventually cut through the bark and destroy the outer most ring. If this happens the limb will die. Instead, use a steel bracket with 2, 1/2" holes, pre-drill with a 7/16" blade bit, and secure with 1/2" x 6" lag bolts. This setup can hold 1000 lbs+ and is the method I used to build my tree house

This is the best toy in the neighborhood! Everybody loves it. I have never seen my kids play with something for so long. We bought it in August and in December they still want to play everyday. It is well worth the $.. investment.

We had the classic version and then moved up to the deluxe. It was fine while it lasted...young teenage boys managed to jam it so it won't roll. But we're thinking about another one soon. While it ran it was enjoyed by one and all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pricey Fun, December 31, 2004
This review is from: Spring Swings Deluxe Fun Ride (Colors May Vary) (Sports)
We bought this for our 8 year old daughter this Christmas. She is having a great time with it, as are the neighbors' kids. I gave it only four stars due to the price. We still can't understand why a plastic handle grip and a length of wire costs $100. Plus, my husband spent an additional $50 on lumber to build the kids a sturdy platform to take off from. But, we spent it and we are enjoying it. We do not have it extended the full 70 feet, but the kids are getting a great ride at 40 feet anyway. Recommended if you want to spend the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, April 25, 2005
This review is from: Spring Swings Deluxe Fun Ride (Colors May Vary) (Sports)
We stretched it across our pool but we have a stoper in the line so you fall in the pool. we just used some special clamps and a high compression spring. The kids love it because they can fly right into the pool.

My siblings loved this zipline, they would like to see the wire that you practicaly fly on extended by fifty feet.I think then if that came to be they would HAVE to give this product 100 stars.
