This is great for regular hammered finishing nails and brads, but it doesn't like the rectangular heads of finishing nails and brads from pneumatic finish nailers. The first couple of times I used it on those, the tip of the tool chipped and became very rough. Luckily, I was able to smooth the tip down, but it disappointed me that it was so delicate.

I bought a set of these for my dad a long time ago and he loves them. I decided to grab a few for myself recently. Excellent build quality and it works as advertised. My only complaint stems from user error. First time I was using this I was pulling the spring way too far to set a particularly stubborn nail in some crown molding I was installing. I ended up chipping the edge of the little hollow end. To the credit of the tool, it still works perfectly even with a third of the rim missing. Another side effect of this overuse was that my fingers would get this buzzing sensation after setting a few nails. I still feel the buzzing using it correctly, but not as bad. It's not a pleasant feeling, but it beats the hell out of a smashed thumb with a hammer. Just remember a lot of light taps from maybe 1/2- to 1-inch pulls will do the same job of a few long pulls.

My son-in-law had one of these and had used for years as a framer and finish carpenter. He had used it so much in fact that the ends were rounded from so much use, so I bought him a replacement for all work he had done for me and I bought myself one too and I have found it to be a very valuable and convinient tool.
