i thought it was a great series, the music was beautiful and i thought the cast was more realistic than normal, apart from the obligatory heart disease which they just had to throw in. if you skip episodes 2-4 or just hold the fast forward button cause it's basically rather unnecessary then everything's great. it's a very pure train wreck coincidence romance. it was...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, but not recommendable, May 9, 2007

This drama is so beautiful, and I enjoyed it when it was broadcasted in Japan.

However, I later knew that the version which had been broadcasted in Japan was "director's cut" edition, and that each episode only lasts for around 50 minutes.
In original "uncut" version, each episode lasts from 50 upto 68 minutes, and I think this is a big difference. I once had a chance to see "uncut" version, and I enjoyed it very much!

I bought this DVD because I thought this was "uncut" edition (there were 20 episodes, and here, it says "Run Time: 1200 minutes"), but when I saw this, I noticed that this was almost the same as "director's cut" edition, broadcasted in Japan. I think I made a big mistake!

If you want to enjoy "uncut" version, I would recommend you to buy Korean edition with English subtitle (there are "special features", but no English subtitle ).

Sorry for my poor English!

3.0 out of 5 stars Spring Waltz, August 20, 2007

After viewing a few episodes online, I decided to purchase this mini-series. Even not knowing the language, I could tell there were many edited scenes from the original series. The story is good. The actors/actresses are good but in my opinion the editing was much to be desired. Still a good story but more of the original should have been left in for all to see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Romantic, October 23, 2010
This review is from: Spring Waltz (DVD)
I loved this very sweet, melancholy, bittersweet romance and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Korean Drama. I was a little shocked and surprised by some of the negative reviews as I felt the lead actors were wonderful and I could definitely watch this drama over and over. I find that reviews are helpful if the reviewer lists other movies they enjoy and so I will list some of my other favorites. Coffee Prince, Personal Taste, Thank You, Pasta. I hope that helps! =)

I am disappointed to say that this version has been cut. I'm sure to someone who hasn't seen it in it's entirety, it will probably remain sweet and beautiful, but WHY did they edit out some of the best scenes? I was so disappointed that some of the sweetest romantic portions have been cut, including a good portion of the ending. :(

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing Korean Drama, March 11, 2011
This review is from: Spring Waltz (DVD)
At the beginning I had a lot of hope for this series. This Korean drama offers many beautiful natural scenery from many different locations. Aside from the excellent cinematography, this love story was a disappointment, in my opinion. The story is built on the premise that the love between the leading characters is already pre-destined. When the supporting characters try to show their feelings both leading characters always reject their offers, no matter how kind and genuine they seem. I find this notion hard to believe. Both leading characters seem to go through life, hopeless and mean spirited. There were too much sadness and too much obstacles from beginning to end. As a viewer it was horrible to endure with these characters. I was hoping that the leading lady would create a new future for herself but she seem to be trapped in her past and future. The leading lady was weak and lacks courage to create a better life for herself. The movie did not inspire me; it just pull me down with its long and pathetic story. If you want a better romantic Korean drama try watching Tamra Island. It has a better executed story and a lot more fun to watch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Spring Waltz, December 8, 2010
This review is from: Spring Waltz (DVD)
This is the first Korean dvd I own. I am so thrilled because my husband ends up watching it with me. It is quite dragging on the first part of the story when they did a flashback when they were young, but its for the better understanding of how the story goes. The director is very good, the casting, the music, the scenes, and the story line is perfect. If you love drama, I recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie!, October 10, 2009

I absolutely enjoyed the story line!
It was refreshing to watch a truly unique version of a boy meets girl romance!
The cast was very convincing and although i don't speak the language and had to read subtitles (which i don't normally enjoy,) I could relate to the characters and became easily attached.
Not that this has anything to do with the handsome main actors.
I definitely recommend this series to anyone that wants to broaden their "romantic horizon!"

5.0 out of 5 stars loved it, May 22, 2009
This review is from: Spring Waltz (DVD)
I have watched this series twice and enjoyed it both times and will likely watch it again. I thought the scenes shot in Austria in winter was beautiful and the rest of the scenes filmed in various places in Korea was visually fantastic. I loved the ending shot of the heart-shaped bay. The music throughout the series touched my heart and the wistful piano version of Clementine stayed with me for days afterwards as I found myself humming that little tune. I liked this series better than Winter Sonata because I felt the story was more uplifting, the mood is lighter and it has a happy ending. The main actors are not well known but I thought each actor/actress conveyed very well the characters that they played. My only complaint about this drama is that the child actor and actress did not match their adult version. Their facial features were too different to make them believable to have grown up to become these adults. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the whole series.
