Pass on this set June 26, 2008
I purchased this set to replace the older 91049-1 model that had met it's demise by falling into the pool. Unlike the older model (with the same actual model number) this newer model does not come with the 'optional' probe wire (It can be obtained by calling the company and purchasing it for an additional $4.50). After finally receiving the probe in the mail, I plugged it in and dropped the probe in the pool. To my surprise, the unit tells me that my pool is 141 degrees. Upon cautiously putting my arm in to check the standard thermometer, I found that the water was actually a chilly 82 degrees. Even without the probe, the remote unit registers about 3 degrees warmer than the base even when placed side by side. The clock is rather pointless when all you really want to know is the inside and outside temp. In any event, I won't be replacing my seemingly faulty 91049-1 with another model. If you are considering this for use with the probe, I would recommend looking at other brands/models.

Absolute Junk August 8, 2011
This is definitely the worst thermometer I have ever owned. The contrast on the screen is not properly set (nor can you adjust it, at least I have not found any way to do it and it's not mentioned in the manual), so it always looks faint unless viewed at a 45 degree angle. Despite being named "PreciseTemp", it's temperature reading capabilities are abysmal. The indoor thermometer is currently 6 degrees over the actual temperature, and the outdoor is 4 degrees under. This is not a random occurrence, although how far off they are and in which direction doesn't seem to have any logic to it at all.

The only reason I have given this unit 2 stars only because of the clock. It seems to sync up without too much issue and the time zone is easy to change.

Bottom line, save your money and just buy one of the SkyScan atomic clocks. They are much more reliable, and I find the temperature to be spot on most of the time.

Springfield 91049-1 November 2, 2011
The appearance of the unit warrants at least one star, beyond that DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Both the inside and outside thermometers are severely imprecise. Even with the outside unit less than 3 feet away, signal loss, thus loss of outside temerature, is frequent. This is a brand new unit, and I have tried two new sets of batteries (checked with my voltage meter as fully charged). I intend to return this unit for a full refund.
