A disappointment. It only registers inside thermometer, not outside. So it is only good as a rain gauge. Had to buy a outdoor thermometer.

Purchased this item in the spring of 2011. Worked well thru the summer of 2011 compared to a glass tube rain gauge. This year, it is behind the glass rube. With 2.5" of rain, the springfield gauge reads 2.1"

I ordered this thinking it would be kind of nifty.
WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all, it doesn't read outdoor temperature, but the receiver/readout temperature (indoors).
Second, It doesn't work right.
During rain, it never registers more than half the actual rainfall and wipes out the 24 hr total in half the time.
Notes:
I had the receiver/readout only 30 ft from the collector/transmitter with nothing in between except a window.
I had the collector/transmitter well away from any obstructions on top of my fence.
My only satisfaction came from taking the receiver/readout and smashing it by throwing in on the hardwood floor.
Don't buy this or you'll get frustrated too.
