Effective if the instructions are followed.,

This product is a lure that is intended to be placed in the plastic jug shown in the picture. It is a refill for the jug, which serves as the "trap" that is described. I think they should make it more clear that you are just getting the refill packet. Anyway, if you follow the directions given, they seem to work well. I have three of them in my yard, filled with the swampiest water I can find. You can't use regular tap water and expect them to work. Give it at least a couple of weeks after you see mosquitos in your yard before expecting to see any inside. The mosquitos are attracted to it to lay their eggs after they have a blood meal, so it takes a while for the trap to work. It is only effective in getting rid of the female mosquito and her future offspring. I have opened the jug to find not only swarms of mosquitos inside, but on more than one occasion, a very well fed and happy frog as well! The mosquitos eventually die, because they can't find their way back out of the container. If you are trying to find a way to get rid of mosquitos and to keep beneficial insects around, give these a try. I find a refill packet lasts around 2 months.

I have used this type of lure with their traps along with the much more expensive electric units over two years and with a little patience it collects many mosquitos and is a much more inexpensive way to go.

I have been a mosquito magnet all of my life. Friends stand near me to draw mosquitos away from them. I tried this product last year and it worked great for me. I can move the container around the yard to keep the mosquitos away from me. I plan on buying a refill for this season. And by the way,why do people post reviews that show them mishandling the product?

Works Fairly Well,

We started using these after an unsuccessful summer with an electronic mosquito killer that boasted a 1-acre coverage. We tried this lure/trap for the subsequent two summers, and I'm just now baiting for the third. It seems to be effective for about 4-5 weeks judging by the jar full of dead bugs at the end of that time. Yet, if you're hoping it will be as effective as a chemical spray, you'd best lower your expectations. Compared to spraying, the trap is only moderately successful. It's a trade off: the control is less than a chemical zap but there is no poison residue for you and your pets.

Did Not Work,

Like so many others, I really had high hopes for this product. I bought two of the traps last season and had such high hopes that I even purchased additional lures at the same time. I carefully followed the directions, but they did not work at all in my yard. Both traps ended up in the trash can this weekend while cleaning out the garage, along with my pack of extra lures. Very disappointed because I really wanted it to work. I would not recommend this product.

Well, it kept getting knocked over but once I got it set up, it never caught a thing in my backyard. So much for the summer with no spray!

I bought two traps. One did good for 5 days and after that no more mosquitos inside the trap. The other trap only caught flies for one week. I tried different places in the yard and followed the instructions, but now I still gor all the mosquitos...

Lure,

I thought I was supposed to receive the "Lure" with swampmix that you soak up with water but all I got was a pheromone Lure that I touched with bare hands and it fell inside my shirt, no packet of swamp vegetation.
