I found these traps to work fine for the first 2-3 weeks, but then they stopped catching moths. I don't know if it's because the glue got less sticky as a result of dust, or if the pheromone strength wore off. Another problem with this trap is that because of its shape, the moths will fly into the corners and explore the trap, but they might not necessarily go inside...

Last year I subscribed to a program that supplied prepackaged food every month for weight loss. As I was using the products, I noticed much to my disgust and dismay, several items in the box were infested with the pantry moth larva. Even though I threw the box and food away immediatly, it was too late. We began to see that they had infested the kitchen and pantry. I threw away every single food item I had in the house, even cookbooks and paper products in a desperate attempt to get rid of them.
I still had the moths. Sometimes 3 or 4 a day in my kitchen. I consulted an exterminator who advised me to go through my cupboards again and to spray insecticide into alll of the cabinets joints and crevices. I followed his direction; we still had the moths.
Finally I researched the problem on-line and saw the pantry moth lure. It worked immediatly! As soon as my husband opened the lure,(it looks like a piece of bubble gum and has no discernable smell to humans), we saw 7 or 8 moths start flying around it. Within hours they were all stuck inside the trap flypaper.
I have had at least two of these traps in my house since then and have not seen any flying moths or larva.
This is a great item! It is small, totally odorless and discreet, cheap, non toxic, and IT WORKS!

I found these traps to work fine for the first 2-3 weeks, but then they stopped catching moths. I don't know if it's because the glue got less sticky as a result of dust, or if the pheromone strength wore off. Another problem with this trap is that because of its shape, the moths will fly into the corners and explore the trap, but they might not necessarily go inside and get stuck on the gluey surface.

I also tried the Cupboard Moth Traps and I think the Cupboard traps work better than the Springstar traps. The traps are flat, so the moths get stuck almost immediately. Another advantage is that if you notice a moth flying around, you can grab a trap and try to swat at the moth and get it stuck on the surface--you can't do that with the Springstar trap. The trap still has the problem where it seems to lose its effectiveness after 3-4 weeks, but overall I'm quite happy with it.

I get pantry moths from bird seed and have used many brands of pantry moth traps in the past. Thought I'd give this brand a try and have had them out for two weeks. Neither trap has attracted a single moth, in fact, my swatting them is doing a better job of eliminating them. I've tried other brands of pantry moth traps before that attracted the little buggers as I removed the lure from the package, but not this one. They were more expensive than other pantry moth traps also. I'd buy a different brand than this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars not very potent, July 8, 2008

I got some of these when the Contech brand went out of stock - boy was I disappointed - they didn't catch anything!!! after a month or so they each only have a couple of moths in them... My Contech traps had to be replaced because they were completely covered with moths... I finally pulled the pheromones out of the contech traps and added them to these traps and now they're catching more... totally inferior product by comparison. Save yourself the hassle and get the Contech ones to start with.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best for pantry moths, April 16, 2010

This review is from: Springstar S202 Flour and Pantry Moth Trap (Lawn & Patio)
I have bought several of these over past couple of years, and each time they trap a lot of moths. I was wondering if they were really helping when I put out the last ones. I went by literally 5 minutes later and there were already two moths in the trap. I reordered more.

Pro:

- They work well for the pantry moths that somehow invaded our home several years ago.

- They attract only one sex of the moths, so that reproduction is reduced. I recommend that you get a cheap electric bug zapper for the remainder - I simply can't stand having them fly around!

- Easy to set up, all you have to do it put the lure into the trap and put the trap in an area where moths are present.

Con:

- I'm not sure there is anything they could do about this, but the traps do fill up pretty quickly, by which I mean that when a moth lites on the sticky, it sticks and then disintegrates - and anywhere those parts go is no longer sticky. So the maximum one will catch with these is about 40 or so moths. I have found that turning the trap over will extend the life, since the moths tend to go into the bottom surface, even when the lure is on the top surface.

- Expect to replace this at least once per month, and probably twice monthly until your moth problem has been defeated.

Conclusion:

One should note that not all moths are the same, and all traps will not work with every species. So try it out; don't buy more than one until you know that this particular kind of moth is your problem. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars You can't fool all the moths all the..., June 20, 2008

I bought a 2-pack of these sticky traps and they worked pretty well but not by following the advice on the package. I had them close to my pantry but would always see the insidious flutterers cruising around my TV in the evening. So I put one on the fireplace mantle about 6 feet from there. There is 50 of those suckers stuck in it now, one month later. The one trap left by the pantry has 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars MOTH TRAP, October 26, 2004

Everyday I looked in the cupboard to check for new pests in the trap and I was not disappointed. I think I finally got them all, but I am leaving it in for the recommended time just to be sure.

These work amazingly well for whatever types of pantry moths we have. They only catch moths when you have them so sometimes they will be empty for a while. When moths do come they must go directly into the traps because I never see the moths except in the traps. We have been using these traps for years and love them.

5.0 out of 5 stars These really work!, October 7, 2011

These traps really work. When I received this batch, we had just had a hatching of pantry moths. As soon as I set the trap on our screened-in porch, the moths swirled right into the trap. If you use natural cat litter (wheat or corn), feed sunflower seed to the birds, etc., as I do, you have to stay vigilant against these moths. I try to limit their access to the things they feed on, but that is almost impossible to do. By keeping these traps out continuously, I am able to eliminate the stragglers, and without using harmful pesticides. Highly recommended!

After experiencing a pesky moth problem in the pantry of our lake house in east Texas, we tried the Springstar Flour and Pantry Moth Trap and within a couple days the problem was eliminated. The product is simple to use and leaves virtually no odor. It is a keeper!
