This fitler works great. It has made a big difference to our skin and hair, and so I am sure our overall health as well. I have one in each shower in my house.

However, after only two months the nut which joins the shower head to the filter unit broke on both. I contacted the seller who asked me to send them to him to see. I did all the way from Oregon to Rhode Is. at my expense. He looked at it and told me I must have smashed it somehow and that was that. All I asked was for a new shower head, as the filter was fine. I not only had to spend my own money to send the item back, but I then had to go out and buy new shower heads! I was very unhappy and so I cannot recommended buying from this seller.

I also live in the DC area, and it's funny to me how many of the reviews are from DC people. My problem was a little different. There's a lot of iron, or iron bacteria in the water. It was staining my bathroom pink/red. Condensation would build up on the bathroom walls from the shower, and then red streaks would run down. It looked like the Amityville horror house! Also, the bathroom seemed particularly prone to mold, which required a lot of diligent cleaning.

I wasn't sure if this shower filter could solve problems like this, but I figured for $40 it would be worth it to not have to clean the bathroom constantly. (also it was kind of embarrassing to have guests over). Well, sure enough it stopped the red buildup. What I wasn't expecting was it also stopped the mold in it's tracks. I guess their was something in the water feeding it? I don't really know. With the filter you're supposed to turn it over after 6 months, and then after a year replace it. Well, for me it only lasted a total of 6 months, but I think that might be because I have such terrible water quality. It's still absolutely worth it and I highly recommend!

Same here, doubted it would work but wanted to try and bought a set of cholrine test strips along with it to check. Anyway, this actually does work!

The showerhead arrived even before the test strips and I could already breathe the difference in my bathroom, and started to be a believer.

After checking the results carefully though, I determined that it works very well for free chlorine, but NOT well for or in the presence of chloramines.

If you have high chloramine content, this isn't ideal for you. Vitashower is better in that case (no it's not a scam - vitamins really are used for real dechlorination, look it up online).

Even if you have chloramines and it doesn't remove everything, it does make the water feel better, so whatever else it is doing to the water feels good.

I purchased this shower filter last month and am extremely happy with it. Since using it on a daily basis since purchasing it, my hair looks better, my skin looks and feels better, and I just feel better overall. It was very simple to install and has excellent output--much better than my standard showerhead.

My partner and I each bought one of these and they worked great for about six months, after which the top of the plastic housing "blew out," by which I mean that a hole appeared just above the ring of vertical ridges at the top of the filter, with a rubber seal of some kind pushing out through that split in the plastic. It started as a slow leak, and then after a couple of weeks, the water sprayed out quite suddenly and massively.

There was no reduction in water flow that would indicate that the filter was too clogged, and in any case, this kind of a blowout should not occur. Furthermore, it happened to each one of us, maybe one month apart. It just happened to her this morning, which is why I am posting this review.

I wish that Sprite would make this in metal instead of plastic. Now I am stuck with an extra replacement filter that may have to be sacrificed because I think I will need to buy a different kind, now, much as I otherwise like this model.

The first month I was very pleased with this product, but after having it for less than 2 months the filter is already dirty. Now when I first turn on the shower the water is a dirty yellow. The building I live in is old, so I'm sure the pipes are old, but still for a product that is supposed to last 6 months, less than 2 is unacceptable. I'm getting another one that is a few hundred and is supposed to last 2 years. We'll see how that one goes.

We bought this item because we moved to a city that has very hard, chlorinated water. Within a week or two of our move, my hair was falling out a lot, and I had a very dry, itchy scalp with some sores from the harsh water. We purchased this shower head and filter (from another website), and I felt the difference in the softness of the water immediately. Within a week or so, my hair stopped falling out as much and my scalp healed up. My husband's hair also recuperated from how dry it was.

After a few months, the part that screws onto our own shower attachment cracked as I was screwing it on. I called the number on the shower filter package, and they sent me a new part very quickly. In total, the filter lasted about 9 or 10 months (for 2 of us plus sometimes our 2-year-old), and then my hair and scalp started having problems again. I replaced the filter, and everything returned to normal. This has been a wonderful blessing for us and works great.

I live in an area that heavily chlorinates the water, making the bathroom smell like I store pool chemicals in it. This has been disastrous both my skin and my breathing. I noticed a difference the first time I used the shower filter. No smelly bathroom or itchy skin.

I just installed a Sprite chlorine shower filter and it works really, really well - after one shower, I can tell there is no longer chlorine in the air when I am done.
