The Buddha, Siddharta Gautama, lived and taught over 2500 ago. His teachings, comprised some of the highest moral philosophy then know to man and appealed to the rational and the poetic mind alike He led a remarkable life, travelling and teaching for 45 years after attaining enlightenment. this narration attempts to bring the Buddha alive for a contemporary audience, by interweaving actual events from his life with fictional encounters. Magadha and Kosala, two of the many kingdoms that extended royal patronage to the Buddha, form the backdrop to this tale. Three narrators take the reader through the Buddha's life. Two of them existed, they are Rahula, the son of Buddha, and Ananda, Buddha's cousin, who became his disciple and later, his personal attendant. the third narrator is a creator of fiction, Triguna, King's Bimbisara's charioteer.
