Surprisingly light at just 1.8 oz. (compared to say, my 45mm Fossil at 5.5oz), which may or may not be a plus, depending on what your preferences are. There are several prior reviews suggesting that the light weight results in problems with the strap/clasp breaking. While I have not had any issues in that regard, time will tell. Also, most likely as a result of the light weight, the overall feel of the watch is somewhat cheap, so if you are looking for a big, bulky, heavy watch, this one is not for you.

Also of note is that after more than 4 decades of wearing a variety of wristwatches (yeah, even one of those calculator watches in the 80s), this watch was the first one I have ever needed to read the instructions to be able to set it. While setting the time is straightforward, the date is a little more difficult and setting the day is downright ridiculous. The instructions can be found under the "customer support" link of the Sprout Watches homepage.

I was specifically looking for a lightweight watch I could wear on a tropical vacation without having to worry about breaking (or losing) one of my more expensive ones and this fit the bill perfectly, even more so at the Gold Box price. I would have second thoughts at its "regular" sales price and probably not recommend it at its "retail" price (unless your needs are a super eco-friendly watch).

I bought this as a lightning deal for $19.99 - I probably wouldn't pay much more for this watch. It lists for $75.00 on the manufacturer's website. It doesn't look like a $75. watch....Much closer to a $19. one.

It is made of the case and band are made of corn resin (plastic made from corn). It's supposed to be biodegradable. Why one needs a biodegradable watch, I don't know.

The watch isn't very heavy and feels good on my wrist. The band looks almost like enameled metal. The band had a bit of a tricky clasp which takes some getting used to. At first I thought I'd break the clasp while un snapping it from my wrist, but it's a lot stronger than it seems. The band has 16 links - It just fits my wrist with about 1/4 inch to spare. According to the manufacturer's website, extra links are available for free if needed. Good to know because if you have a thick wrist the watch might not fit.
The case is also made of plastic. Doesn't look too bad but does look like plastic. The crystal is a "mineral crystal" some type of glass - but I'm not sure if it's also just tough clear plastic.
The hands are supposed to be luminous. Just barely - very hard to see it the dark - they just don't glow enough to be read in a dark room. The numbers and markings on the face are not luminous.
It's kind of hard to set the date because you have to wind the watch through 24 hours to turn the date on day - so that's like 60 full turns to set the day. The calendar is so small it's hard to read it anyway.
The watch does not come packaged with directions or warranty information. You have to download that from the Sprout website. It's listed on the box.
I wound not have purchased this if it was not on sale, but I am happy with the purchase.

The price caught my eye first, then the looks- full disclosure, I got this on a daily deal for $19.99. I just received it today so I can't truthfully speak to durability or accuracy yet (I'll update that after I get a chance to wear it for a while), but I do have a moderate immediate criticism that I need to mention- the lack of adjustability.

There were no extra links included, nor are there holes to move the clasp around to give it a looser fit on my wrist. For the record, I'm 6'5" and about 300 pounds, so if you're on the larger side, this will be very snug on you, though the size looks just right on me, not too small. However, I know as I lose some weight, my wrist will get smaller and it will fit better (I have another watch with a steel band that is equally tight until I drop a few pounds), so it will get a proper wearing then and I'll update this to reflect that.

As for the construction itself, it looks to be very well put together for a plastic watch, I expect it to stand up to everyday wear well, and it is lightweight so it should be comfortable to wear all day. The markings on the face are sharp and easily readable at a quick glance, and the luminous tips of the hands seemed to hold a "charge" for a fair amount of time.

I will likely be buying another Sprout watch that comes with an adjustable band in the near future when the price is right, as I am happy with how well-made this one appears to be for an inexpensive (under $100) watch.

This watch appeared as an Amazon Lightening Deal at less than $20. I liked the looks, and intrigued by it's enviromental cache. Upon receiving it, I was struck by it's light weight and cheap feel. It did look good, but it seemed like a watch that Lego would make. It's been absolutely accurate over the week that I have had it. Notable is the band, made out of corn resin plastic, with a metal clasp I had never seen before. There is no clasp in the outside. You have to pry up the band where it comes together in the middle. It was hard to get it open for the first time, but had become easier. Beware men with larger wrists! Normally I need to remove a two or three links from the average watch band to make it fit. This one fit perfectly right out of the box, and I have a thinner than average wrist, and there is no way to make the band longer. Overall, for the low price I paid, I'm satisfied

I had to return this watch as the wrist band was to small to get on my hand. Make them bigger.

I know that they are using bio-degradable materials, but I thought the build quality for cheap. I sent it back.

The band did not fit on my wrist. Even with the extra links could not get watch on my hand, and with extra links to get over my hand, too loose on my wrist.

The picture doesn't really make it clear how difficult the small hands are to see in low light. The gray version has yellow hands which should be brighter. Even the hour markings are difficult to see sometimes. Chrome can often look black.

Don't like the markings on the date dial. I didn't expect to be able to read the tiny numbers with my old eyes, but thought I would at least be able to interpolate between major markings like people do with minutes/seconds. Unfortunately, they chose an odd sequence, starting at 31 and skipping by 3 except for 7-10. I'll never remember that scale. They should have marked 3, 6, 9, etc. leaving the odd skip from 30 to 3 with a tick mark at 1 (instead of 31). What they did makes no sense to me. Should have looked closer at the picture. My fault, lightning deal was about over so didn't check carefully.

As others noted, the band is too small given the size of the watch. I'm 5-7, 200 lbs and it barely fit my wrist. Hoping it will stretch a bit as I don't want a whole link. Can't help thinking of the irony of not selling the watch with plenty of links given the band is biodegradable. Surely, the cost and effort of shipping extra links for those who need them is a much bigger waste of resources.

Stem needs some texture. It's difficult to set the date which seems to take more torque than the time.

"Crystal" seems more durable than typical plastic watches (I scratched my Casio the first day I wore it) but is sure is a smudge magnet compared to my Citizen.

Overall, I'm just OK with it even at the sale price. Few plastic watches offer bracelet style bands so I give them props for that. It's a nice Japanese movement in an interesting, but not well thought, out case. Give us more function, less fashion.
