Good for a particular purpose
on April 16, 2014
Surprisingly light at just 1.8 oz. (compared to say, my 45mm Fossil at 5.5oz), which may or may not be a plus, depending on what your preferences are. There are several prior reviews suggesting that the light weight results in problems with the strap/clasp breaking. While I have not had any issues in that regard, time will tell. Also, most likely as a result of the light weight, the overall feel of the watch is somewhat cheap, so if you are looking for a big, bulky, heavy watch, this one is not for you.
Also of note is that after more than 4 decades of wearing a variety of wristwatches (yeah, even one of those calculator watches in the 80s), this watch was the first one I have ever needed to read the instructions to be able to set it. While setting the time is straightforward, the date is a little more difficult and setting the day is downright ridiculous. The instructions can be found under the "customer support" link of the Sprout Watches homepage.
I was specifically looking for a lightweight watch I could wear on a tropical vacation without having to worry about breaking (or losing) one of my more expensive ones and this fit the bill perfectly, even more so at the Gold Box price. I would have second thoughts at its "regular" sales price and probably not recommend it at its "retail" price (unless your needs are a super eco-friendly watch).
