Book Description

June 1, 2009
As Spud Milton continues his diabolical stagger through adolescence, he learns one of life's most important lessons: when dealing with women and cretins, nothing is ever quite as it seems. 'I'm practically a man in most areas', writes Spud confidently on his sixteenth birthday. The year is 1992 and, as always in South Africa, radical change is in the air. The country may be on the bumpy road to an uncomfortable redemption, but Spud Milton is hoping for a smooth ride as he returns to boarding school as a senior. Instead, he discovers that his vindictive arch enemy is back to taunt him and that a garrulous Malawian has taken residence in his dormitory, along with the regular inmates and misfits he calls friends. Spud's world has never seemed less certain; he attempts to master Shakespeare, wrestles constantly with God and the power of negative thinking, and develops an aversion to fried fish after a shocking discovery about his grandmother, Wombat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Yet Available in the US for whatever reason..., June 8, 2011
This review is from: Spud - Learning to Fly (Paperback)
If you love SPUD... You will love this book. I ordered it from Amazon.uk and it cost about $20 (and a month) to get it here via Royal Mail, but WELL WORTH THE WAIT!

I can't wait to see the movie... WHERE'S IT AT?

I don't want to spoil anything, but there are turns you'd not expect and great fun. I don't want Spud to grow up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait, June 30, 2011
This review is from: Spud - Learning to Fly (Paperback)
I loved the first two books! My son and I read them and we laughed and cried together. It also helped him have a great relationship with his English teacher in a military academy for boys. It renewed his love for reading and it took me back to my childhood in South Africa. Can't wait for the next one. Shocked to see the price! Are you kidding me?! The stars are for the series!

The 1 Star is for Amazon, not the author.

For some reason, we can't even read the sequel but have to pay over a hundred dollars for a used impport? This title might actually convince me to get a Kindle.

When will Amazon make this book available for us in a reasonable price range?

What is the hold-up?
