Book Description

July 8, 2008
The ladies at the Black Widow Agency are back, bringing justice to wronged women like themselves, with their trademark blend of computer forensics, surveillance technology, and women's intuition. In this sexy sequel, Katie, Alexandria, Jane, and Margo - with a little help from Antoine and Marcus - find themselves playing bodyguard to an unpublished manuscript. Its famous author, whose controversial medical thrillers have made her a target for adoring fans, angry fanatics, and powerful pharmaceutical interests, is in need of some protection too. But the Black Widows have a few other problems to untangle: Alexandria's unexplained disappearances, the pesky reappearance of reporter Chelsea Mattox, and Katie's unresolved feelings for her ex, Joe Kennedy.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Fans of the Black Widow Agency’s detectives will welcome this second in the series as the quartet, “all of whom had been scorned in one way or another by a man,” continue to redress the wrongs visited on women. Using computer expertise, advanced surveillance technology; and the combined police experience and gut instinct of former cop Katie Mahoney, these fab four females have flair, flash, and lots of psychological baggage. Add detective Margo’s delightfully silly, super-swishy twin, Marcus, and the scene is set for an intriguing case. Reclusive best-selling novelist Linda Jordon’s debut thriller caused a media explosion with its fictional focus on a rediscovered ancient cure for cancer that threatens today’s pharmaceutical companies. With drug conglomerates’ rumored $2 million bounty to keep the unpublished follow-up from seeing the light of day, Linda is on the run, the only copy of the incendiary sequel in a flash drive hanging around her neck. Clearly Donovan’s Black Widow Agency’s protection is needed, and might this series give James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club some serious competition? --Whitney Scott

More About the Author

Felicia Donovan developed an early reputation for telling tales, particularly about her three older siblings. She apologizes profusely for any harm this may have caused and was subsequently encouraged by her mother, a freelance writer, to put her overly active imagination to better use.

Felicia began writing stories and poems early on and completed her first novel by the time she graduated from high school. She subsequently joined her college paper and won the prestigious Scripps-Howard Foundation Journalism Scholarship based on her writing submissions.

After obtaining her Degree, Felicia went on to become a teacher. Always willing to try new things, she left teaching to join a New England Police Department where she was first introduced to the fascinating world of digital crime.

Always compelled to write, Felicia wrote the first in THE BLACK WIDOW AGENCY series of comedy-mysteries based on her experiences in law enforcement (mostly the comedy). Her writing always reflects her hope that justice will be served, the underdog will rise, and everyone will be treated equally and respectfully with tolerance (at minimum) and acceptance (at best). She believes very much in happy endings.

Felicia resides in the bucolic countryside of New England with an old, blind dog who sheds, and her Partner, who does not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than The First, November 22, 2008
This review is from: Spun Tales: The Black Widow Agency (Paperback)
Spun Tales is a charming and fun sequel to The Black Widow Agency with all the colorful main characters back for this new adventure. One of the things I enjoyed most about this book was getting to know the mysterious Alexandria better. Definitely an enjoyable, fast read.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellently crafted mystery novel, August 10, 2008
This review is from: Spun Tales: The Black Widow Agency (Paperback)
Authors everywhere desire to become famous and have their novels sell millions. But fame, much like everything, carries a cost. "Spun Tales" is a novel of the Black Widow Agency series, following the group as they protect an author from those who would do her harm and those who would and beg her for an autograph. If that wasn't enough, someone is out for her latest book, and the Agency must deal with irritants in their daily lives. An excellently crafted mystery novel especially recommended for women, "Spun Tales" is thoroughly enjoyable.
