Here's the reasons it's worth $20:
-This book is specifically for those seeking dairy free, refined sugar free, grain free, and/or vegan ice cream alternatives. I don't have the time or patience to develop even 5 recipes that meet these criteria AND taste as wonderful as these recipes do. I'm a busy woman. Give me the recipe and I can go with it.
-Since these recipes cater to special dietary needs, it calls for ingredients that a) can be expensive b) are not necessarily used in everyday cooking. For these reasons, I'd much rather spend $20 on recipes that I know have been tested with these ingredients by someone who has experience using them than spend a small fortune trying to come up with a recipe that makes the cut. Kelly has done all of the hard work for us here!
Once cherries are in season here, I'm going to make the bing cherry ice cream. Can't Wait!
The book is so small. I didnt realize how small it would be until I got it. I would expect to pay 9.99 for a book this tiny.
Some of the recipes look like space fillers. For example, Cookie dough ice cream: Make cookie dough, Make vanilla ice cream, mix...
A lot of the recipes can be found on her blog, but that is the case with a lot of cookbooks.
Sugar free on a technicality. Dates, honey, agave, stevia I actually dont mind those as being listed sugar free because they are. But quite a few recipes have coconut sugar which really to me is just like sugar.
It is nice to dairy free allergin free ice cream recipe.
It is easier to sub real milk or sugar instead of trying to make a recipe dairy free.
It is nice to have all the ideas in one spot instead of just printig blog posts.
I really like the section on how to thicken the ice cream and the multiple options.
I really, really like the cashew milk recipe.
Not a bad book, not a great book. I mostly feel like I overpaid for this so that is the main reason for the 3 stars
