From Booklist

Running the coastal California spa that has been in her family for three generations has left Annie O'Toole with little time for a love life, except for a brief affair with a mysterious man who left for Mexico on his yacht. The next time she sees Sam McKade, he's on television, a hero who rescued children from a speeding bus that slammed into a cement barrier. Broken, bleeding, and suffering from amnesia, Sam, actually a Navy SEAL, is sent to Annie's spa for rehabilitation in the hope that he'll regain his lost memories that are essential to national security. Devastated that he doesn't even recognize her, workaholic Annie does her best to restore Sam to health while keeping him hidden and safe from whoever it is that wants him dead. Sam is a perfect adventure-hero romantic lead, the incredibly fit and smart Annie is his perfect match, and Izzy Tegue, a Denzel Washington clone, is also on the scene, providing much-needed security. From the Inside Flap

Annie O'Toole has a past....
The last time Annie saw Sam, they were lying in each other's arms beneath a canopy of stars. Now Annie paces a secluded airfield at midnight, awaiting the arrival of an unmarked Navy helicopter. Her assignment: Get this Navy SEAL back into fighting form pronto-and keep his identity a secret. But who's going to protect her from a man who looks at her as if she were a stranger and who doesn't remember the one night she'll never forget?
His name is Sam McKade.
Six foot four inches of tough, trained professional, Sam risked his life in an act of rare courage, saving a busload of schoolchildren from certain death. But becoming America's newest media hero can be dangerous for a man with an undercover past. Sam could do a lot worse than this secluded beach resort. Ditto the sexy therapist who seems maddeningly familiar-if he only knew where or when. But he's about to find out-as a dangerous enemy surfaces out of his shadowed past, leaving a trail of bodies right to Annie's door.
Now the rugged SEAL who doesn't believe in love or commitment is about to risk everything...because for Sam McKade, protecting this woman, this extraordinary woman, has become the most important mission of his life....

More About the Author

Christina Skye loves the power of the written word. The New York Times bestselling author of 36 novels, 7 novellas and four non-fiction books still writes longhand.

Usually when her characters refuse to behave.

She came to writing late. Once she realized that she could not become the heir to a small European mountain kingdom, writing seemed like the next best thing. She is a pushover for Harris tweed, Scottish cashmere, handspun merino yarn, Shanghai street dumplings, French macarons and dark chocolate.

Not necessarily in that order.

After receiving her doctorate in classical Chinese literature, she traveled for five crazy years, working as a writer, translator and consultant to travel magazines, national tourist agencies, importers, apparel companies and museums, including the National Geographic Society, the Asia Society and the American Museum of Natural History, spending most of that time in Asia. Her mileage points were awesome.

Then the travel got old.

In 1990 she sold her first novel in six days. Since then she has written five different series for six different publishers. She has appeared on ABC Worldwide News, Travel News Network, the Arthur Frommer Show, Geraldo, Voice of America, Looking East, and Good Morning, Arizona.

In 2013 her contemporary romance, The Accidental Bride, was chosen as one of the ten best romance novels of the year by prestigious Booklist Magazine. In 2015 the book was chosen one of the 100 best books of the decade by the same premier review magazine. She is beyond thrilled by both honors.

"Rich with realistically complex characters and subtle wit, the latest addition to Skye's Summer Island series is as warm and comforting as a well-knit afghan. Skye perfectly captures the feel and appeal of small-town life, and this sweetly satisfying romance is an excellent read-alikes suggestion for fans of Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove series or Robyn Carr's Virgin River books."
~John Charles, Booklist

The book also received a reviewer's choice award from Romantic Times Magazine.

She is currently at work on a New Adult paranormal series and three new books in her Brides Club contemporary series, a spin off of her emotionally gripping Summer Island titles. In 2016 she will have five books published in the new Brides Club series, set on the ruggedly beautiful Oregon coast.

Christina loves to cook, knit lace on big needles, drink tea, collect vintage scarves and uncover odd historical tidbits that she can weave into her storylines.

This was my first book by Chistina Skye and it will not be my last! Annie and Sam's story is great, and you have to love the Navy Seal's. Plenty of laughs, suspense, and of course romance. I loved the scene with Annie and her sister Taylor when they got drunk. Not that I advocate drinking but it was a touching moment in the story. It was priceless and quite funny. Annie is a owner of a Spa in California and meets Sam right before he goes on a mission for the Navy. Sam is not all that he seems to be and Annie finds out the truth about the man she shared several romantic moonlite nights with during a live heroic act shown on T.V. Injured during this rescue Sam finds out that he has lost his memory and is sent to Annie's Spa as a way to recuperate in peace and safety. Annie remembers all that they shared but Sam does not remember a thing. The story goes from there. A lot of suspense keeps you turning the pages, that and the hope that Sam will remember what a special thing he shared with Annie.
I will be heading out to buy more books from this talented author.

After a torrid affair, US Navy Seal Commander Sam McKade leaves behind Annie O'Toole to deliver information that will catch a traitor. For Sam doing his duty has always been easy until now. He always wondered how someone could betray his or her nation, but even Sam struggles to leave Annie to do his job.

However, before Sam can complete his mission, he takes a heroic side trip and rescues some children, but is injured in the endeavor suffering amnesia. His impatient superiors decide to hide Sam in the Summerwind Resort while he recuperates and recovers his memory. Employed at the spa, Annie becomes his physical therapist, but must remain silent about their previous beach romance. As Annie and her patient fall in love all over again, a traitor plans to kill Sam and Annie if she gets in the way.

Like this reviewer, readers will say if memory is correct that the use of amnesia has seen googol deployments in books. However, Christina Skye makes her two-lead characters feel human so that the audience believes the story line is fresh and the memory loss real. The plot is filled with action and a strong cast enabling fans of romantic suspense to forget the numerous previous amnesiac tales because MY SPY will head towards the top of the list.

My Spy the latest from a favorite of mine, makes you think about red lace underwear in a whole new light. This latest "Navy SeaL" love story, takes a injured Navy Hero, Sam MCKade with no memory and puts him back with Annie O'Toole, a spa owner who he shared a weekend of passion with. Annie is an overworked and stressed business woman. She also has a hurting heart who must take care of a man who does not remember her. There love story is sweet and funny. It is a delight to have Izzy back, one of Ms. Skye's favorite ongoing characters. The surprise is that I did not see the villian coming. The finally chapter where Sam meets "his kids" is a tearjerker. I still want another Draycott Abbey story out of Ms. Skye. But her last three books, have been fresh, sexy and lots of fun.

Sam McKade jumps to the rescue of a bus full of school children, just before going to meet with his Admiral to report on a Navy leak. Now Sam can't remember what happened leading up to the accident. Before sailing down to Mexico he had met Annie O'Toole owner of the resort Summerwind. Now after his accident he is returning to her so she can heal him.

Ammie O'Toole was one of the millions of viewers that watched Sam McKade get thrown from the school bus after saving the bus full of children. When she'd known him he had been Sam Mitchell the man she'd seen for two weeks before he set off to explore Mexico. Now he's coming back to stay at Summerwind. This time battered and not knowing her. His attraction to her is still there and he gets all of the firsts over again. Only for Annie she's already lived it all and wishes Sam would remember.

The excitement continues as the Navy leak is trying to keep from being discovered. Sam needs to recover his memory quick, in the meantime he is being protected by Izzie and having the time of his life with Annie. How long until time runs out on Sam's good luck?

Ishmael Teaque returns again in this book. A fascinating and fun character that is in all of her Navy SEAL's books. The plot is a little unbelievable but let your imagination run with it and it will be a great read.

Co-owner of exclusive resort agrees to do physical therapy with recent ex-lover Navy SEALS hero who was recently injured from saving a schoolbus & who has temporary amnesia. But she can't divulge their r/s history per request of his employers b/c it may distract from his remembering crucial govt information.

This Skye book was an average read. Nothing glaringly bad & nothing too exciting either. Romance & action-suspense were predictable. Sexual chemistry & love scenes were ho-hum. Characters, character development, & emotional pull of book were tepid.

Partial recommendation for an average romance.
