5.0 out of 5 stars The best trip companion for a little kid
This book is as exciting for kids as it is for parents. I bought our first I Spy book for a long (17 hrs) plane flight with my 3.5 year old and it really did the job of entertaining him enough. Without it the trip could have been a nightmare. I recommend it to anyone who needs to keep a child entertained and occupied for a longer period of time.

everything with the seller went great. i am a little disapointed because this book has pages from the other I Spy books which my son already has. I thought it would be different and really " a Challenger!" -- NOT! So basically I spent money on something we already had.

Each page is a picture if multiple little objects. Under the picture there are several riddles, and kids can spend quite a lot of time looking for the objects. But parents can make addititional riddles--so many objects are hidden or not obvious. And they can have fun too.

The artwork is beautiful and sharp. While older kids can learn to be more observant, younger ones can enhance their vocabulary by learning the name of the objects (with an adult's help , of course).

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific book, challenging for all ages, July 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: I Spy Gold Challenger: A Book of Picture Riddles (Hardcover)
We have a 2-1/2 yr old daughter who absolutely LOVES the "I Spy" book series. This book is much more involved and difficult than the smaller board books designed for little ones. However, she got the idea of searching for things from the easier board books and soon got bored (pardon the pun). Using this larger version, we can make up lots of games to keep it interesting. Now, she asks us "I spy a ___" and we have to find it. Hard to do with only a few pictures on each page.

We have a lot of fun with it too - and haven't found some of the things after several months! Bottom line: Great book - start with the board books for younger ones and move up to this. make up your own games to challenge them. Enjoy

My grandson and I spend hours on these I Spy books. What I love is that even if we finish finding everything in the book (which we haven't on this particular book in the I Spy series), a couple months later, we have just as much fun doing it all over again!

This is an unbelievably creative and great book for the whole family. It was wonderful to finally get a book that the whole family could enjoy while interacting with each other. It's entertainment, creativity, wonderful pictures, and enchanting riddles all wrapped up it one book.

Like all of the I spy books, this one offers hours and hours of fun for all ages. Some of the things to be found took days to find, which can be a bit frustrating for some people.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Spy Gold Challenger, August 13, 2010
This review is from: I Spy Gold Challenger: A Book of Picture Riddles (Hardcover)
ISBN 0590042963 - Printed in Singapore (boo hiss to New York-based publisher Scholastic for that one). The I Spy series of books always leaves me with one single, little itty-bitty, regret: why didn't these exist when I was a kid?!

Each two-page spread features a photograph so full of the details that make them perfect for a search and find game. Among the photos are a jumble of toys, an action-packed sand castle, a clown act on stage, a futuristic sci-fi world and so much more, all created in the most superb, imaginative way. This book features previously-seen favorite photos with new riddles.

The text, by Jean Marzollo, is hardly worth rating, because it's simply a list of things to look for in the pictures, although it does at least deserve props for rhyming. It is, as always, the creation of the sets and the photography of Walter Wick that stands out, here. Once you've found everything, including the Extra Credit Riddles on the last two pages, you can go right back and start over, making up your own game - there's that much to see! One of the things I absolutely love about this book is that the answers are not here. There is no cheating by flipping to the back. Can't find what you're looking for? Keep looking, or ask for help, because it'll drive you crazy not to know.
