Carmen and Juni are spending the summer at an OSS sleep-away camp. The camp director is a retired spy-turned-environmentalist named Oscar Zohn. But it turns out that O. Zohn thinks environmentalism means using nature for his own devices. He plans on using the unknowing help of the Spy Kid campers. Only Carmen and Juni are in the know…which means only they can save the world!

I've been reading the Spy Kids books to my kids, ages 8 and 5. So far we've enjoyed them all, but I think this one has been my favorite to date. Carmen and Juni save the world again with lots of cool gadgets and daring spy work-- this time while at summer camp.
Most of the kids' "series" out there these days are endless pages of poorly-written drivel. The Spy Kids books though have real pizzazz-- zany villains, amazing gadgets, perilous situations, and likeable heroes with distinct personalities. I enjoy them along with the kids. As a parent, I also appreciate that they use a respectable vocabulary-- there are usually a number of new words to explain to my kids and add to their repertoire. There is also usually some fun foreign culture or travel, and some new Spanish words here and there. Best of all, the Spy Kids manage to be ultracool while still having a good relationship with their parents and with each other. I hope the author can keep up the good work-- we're waiting for our shipment of book #5!
