Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
For the sake of my pride, lets pretend I wanted this because I have kids and not because I wanted to play with it.

Obviously, I had to test it out. Getting it out of the package was not as bad as some toys are. Sometimes you nearly end up breaking the toy trying to get it out. The Ultra Night vision googles were lighter than I expected. I am hoping that does not bode poorly for their long term survival.

But what was really fun is how well these googles work. We live in a more rural area. There is no light pollution in this area. I wonder if that made these work better for me than they would in a lighter area. But these googles worked just fine. I can see easily for a good distance in the dark.

The "thermal tech" is not nearly as good. It is below freezing so that may be impacting it. I didn't get a thermal read on my kids but I did get a slight one on a cow in our field.

For the price, these are a lot of fun and are surprisingly useful.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
This is one of those products you can't have reviewed by a grown-up. When I played with it, I felt that the LCD display was weak, and that the record feature was too low-res.

Then again, this isn't made for me - it is made for kids - and my daughter absolutely LOVES it. She's turning off all the lights in the house and walking around with her night vision goggles. They work quite well - there is a low res camera and a low res LCD display, with an IR LED array to light up the area. Picture quality in daylight is pretty lousy - think early 1990's digital camera, and can't be any higher than 320x240 - but in night mode, it actually performs quite well. It'll light up a large living room, and in pitch black, she can see how many fingers I'm holding up.

Definitely a fun toy, and unlike most toys, this one gave her fun for hours on end without getting boring. IT has some bonus features, like targets, recording and focus adjust. Certainly not a professional grade product, but highly recommended for "cool kids".

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I'm rarely impressed with toys - they are often grossly overpriced, not durable and do not live up to the advertisements which often drives our children to ask for the product. This product is the exception - it is an AWESOME product and provided you keep in mind that it is a TOY - you will not be disappointed.

I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much when I inserted the 4 AA batteries (not supplied - probably only downside to this product). First off, you'll need to slide the black switch to power this toy on (the switch blends into the molding of the toy - it's located about 2 ½ inches from the view port in the center). Flip the green switch from the sun to the moon and Viola - you have night vision. To say I was amazed at the clarity of this night vision product would be an understatement. There is a focus adjustment, eye width adjustment, a scope toggle switch, and a switch that adjust to Day Mode, Thermal-Tech and Ghost Recon. It also has a long and short range mode to enhance visual clarity. All of these functions are something best discovered through use - it is so much easier to "see" it rather than to try to explain these functions in written format and you and your child will not be disappointed with the many features.

When you look through the Goggles - you will see in the right hand corner a battery indicator level (nice touch). The view screen will also change and reflect a title of what feature being used (i.e. Thermal-Tech or Ghost Recon). The scope view also has 3 different overlays (again - so much easier to visually "see" and understand than to try to explain verbally - however envision different views through a scope: such as bulls eye, landing scope, etc).

Half of the buttons pertain to the optional inclusion of a Micro SD card (support up to 32GB) to take videos. This is not included with the product and frankly, for an extra 10-20 bucks (depending on GB size), I'm inclined to buy the Micro card soon to also experiment with the video. Don't let the fact however that half of the buttons are basically useless with buying a separate video card - the night vision capability itself more than makes up for the purchase price. In addition, several of the viewing features cannot be changed if you are recording and this is CLEARLY outlined in the instructions. Some might view this as a disadvantage - I simply viewed it as keeping the cost of this toy at a reasonable price.

Packaging (or should I say un-packaging) was infuriating (edges around box is taped and 3 plastic ties that need cut off with very VERY sharp scissors) however we can thank the many shoplifters out there for this inconvenience.

Overall - great toy - I LOVE it! This is not something that is going to take a lot of abuse from being dropped however with a little care and by not using it outside and having it be subjected to dampness - I really think that kids (and dare I say adults) will absolutely love this toy. I'm already convinced that when my younger daughter sees this product that she is going to want one also so she and her brother can both have the night vision sophistication of playing outdoors or in the house with the lights out or very dim. There are obvious safety concerns that have to be taken into consideration (i.e.: steps, possible tripping, etc.) however with some common sense use - this will be a very popular toy. And lastly, the unit does not turn off automatically so investing in rechargeable batteries is advisable.

Gave these to my 7 yr grndson - we were very impressed with the depth of technology that was included in these. The night vision was very good but it also had a thermal vision - even my son was impressed with the quality of the product.

Works really good. It allows you to see the distance advertised and is clear. Over all it works as intended.

I was amazed to find that these night vision goggles do actually work. It has three different nighttime modes and a daytime mode (with no enhancement). You can record to an SD card (no need to have a card installed, however), and to make it more fun, it has different optional spy overlays in the display. All controls are easily accessible with one hand. My boys have been using these goggles when playing capture the flag, and I have tested them with good results in pitch darkness. Wonderful toy for your little spy.

Just bought this for my 7 year old and he's pretty pleased with it.

I have a few gripes with it:

1. The infrared lights stay on whenever the device is on, even in day mode. This is completely unnecessary and is a waste of batteries. So be sure to keep it in short-range mode when using in daytime mode so you waste less juice. Frankly, the switch to daylight mode SHOULD shut off the lights. What moron uses a flashlight in broad daylight. (BTW I verified one or the other is shining with real night vision goggle that sees IR light).
2. The distant-mode high-power IR light shines RED making you visible in the dark. Why? Adequate power IR LEDs should not shine red.
3. In the display, add an indicator so you can tell if the file is photo or video. Minor annoyance, but annoying nonetheless.
4. Add usb to download photos ... pulling the card, sticking it into a micro-sd to sd adapter and sticking it in the card reader is annoying.

Otherwise it is a pretty decent kids toy.

it did not come with a head strap so that it can be worn on your head. That would be a major improvement on this device. That way your hands would be free

They made the product well. I would have liked to be able to see more to the sides and not just straight ahead.

I've brought a few kids night vision goggles in the past and this has been the closest to the real thing that I've seen. I gave it to my son for his 7th birthday and he hasn't put it down in a week. I will definitely get a SD card for it soon.
