Book Description

1967
DANGEROUS BEAUTY... When Siri Quain fled her shattered marriage, heartbreak drove her to the fabled isles of Greece, and straight into the storm center of a plot so frightening that there was only one man she could call on to save her-- if she dared call on him-- her ex-husband. Lurking under the rose is the thorn. Among the mountains, the crashing seas, the heavenly blue of Greek skies, amid the exquisite manners of aristocrats, Siri found peril crouching to pounce on her. Why was a mysterious international magnate suddenly her devoted friend? Whky should an authentic prince woo her-- and coldly plan her death? What was the secret of innocent appearing Dr. Corwin? Before Siri could learn the life-or-death answers. She had to know her own heart.

(REAL NAME)
If you have read my other reviews, you know by now that I'm a real Elsie Lee fan. I love her strong women characters and I love a good mystery as well. In this particular book the main character is divorced by her artist husband at the beginning and she hits on a sure-fire way to avoid him and her immediate social circle by suggesting to her company that they pay her a stipend to travel Europe doing research while the gossip dies down. She ends up staying at the Villa Miranda and who shows up but her ex-husband (the artist) who is painting the wife of one of the owners. A wonderful who-dunnit involving smuggling and murder with another one of Ms. Lee's strong women protagonists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elsie Lee - Always Great!, April 14, 2007
From the back cover: Looking for a way to forget the trauma of her recent divorce, Siri Quain accepted a job as a traveling companion to a sophisticated older woman. The thought of losing herself in the beautiful sun-drenched ruins of ancient Greece seemed to be the perfect cure for the horrible memories of her shattered marriage. . . But then an act of violence fell across Siri's path, and her carefree vacation turned into a fearful nightmare. And to add to the terror there seemed to be no one who she could trust -- no one except her ex-husband!
