Product Description

The Spyderco Delica II folding knife offers a lightweight, yet solid design with a smooth metal handle that's ideal for engraving. The hollow-ground, modified skinning-style blade is constructed from AUS-6 steel which is loaded with a carbon level of around 1-precent for advanced edge retention. Two sets of pre-drilled holes allow the clip to be positioned for tip-up or tip-down carrying.

I have only had the knife two weeks and though I don't feel this is long enough to properly gauge the quality of the knife as a whole there are some comments I think are helpful and should be noted.

Pros: This knife out of the box is the sharpest knife I have ever bought and it cuts through tough cuts of meat like butter and could very easily replace my xacto knife for stencil cutting. Solid lock and no give in any direction. Additionally, the ability to adjust the clip position is very handy although the T6 Torx screwdriver for it can be expensive. The blade material is very high quality. If you don't know your steels this is one of the 2 best dependent on purpose in my opinion. Also a Great price by far the cheapest I could find for this model.

Cons: Only complaint is like some have mentioned the handle does scratch very easily

Other:

The description is inaccurate. This knife is NOT flat saber ground as the description states and it is easy to tell from the picture especially when compared to the pictures of the Delica 4 models that have the Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon Handles which are indeed Flat Saber Ground. Instead it is a hollow-ground. ([....] )

Also some have complained about the weight, however, for a stainless steel handle it is probably the lightest one I have ever bought (I buy almost exclusively stainless steel handles) and I personally like the feel of it in my hand as it doesn't feel cheap like the FRN handle which is almost weightless though it is durable despite the feel.

A close friend of mine has the Delica II version of this knife that came from NRS (National Ropers Supply). He has had it for years and loves it. I don't think he's ever sharpened it, and it could probably cut through rawhide. We both work with horses and other livestock, and the fully serrated edge ("SpyderEdge") is a must if you want to be able to quickly cut through rope or leather. The weight of the knife in your hand is good, and it slides in and out of your jeans pocket nicely. Note that the stainless finish WILL scratch up with use. Also, if you are regularly working in an environment where you will have sweaty hands, the stainless knife will be a little harder to grip.

Perrsonally, I have the "Delica 4" version of the knife. The price listed on Amazon as of this revision ($57.89) is pretty fair, though it's still difficult to determine which version of the knife they are selling (the older "Delica II" or the newer "Delica 4"). There are distinct differences, particularly with regard to the metal used in the blade. The "Delica 4" uses a harder/thicker steel in the blade, which makes the tip less likely to break. It also sports a few other upgraded features such as the ability to move the clip to either side and end of the knife. That said, the picture shown is STILL the "Delica II", which is still a fine knife, but the Product Descriptions reflect both versions as of this posting. I contacted Amazon and, despite being the ones who have it in their warehouse, they were unable to tell me the version and suggested I contact the manufacturer (who of course had no idea what Amazon had in stock).

That said, this is a GREAT price for this knife regardless of which one you get. These consistently sell elsewhere for $60-80 (for the DII) and $80-100 for the Delica 4. So either way, it's a deal. But if you happen to get the newer Delica 4, then it's an even sweeter deal. I suspect it actually ships from the manufacturer, in which case I'd buy with confidence.

Our company gives these knives away as safety rewards to our employees. We have been giving away Spyderco knives for over 10 years now and some many of the original ones are still in use. We get the knives laser engraved at a local trophey shop and they look awesome.

These things are great in either plain edge or spyder edger.

I purchased this to replace an old plastic bodied delica. This knife is much heavier, but has a good feel in my hand. The clip design on this is far superior to the old one, but get yourself a #6 torx driver if you want to move the clip...

as expected spyderco delivers with he delica 4 but that was to be expected my only regret is getting the stainles handle it scrstches up easly and is heavy. frn is a better bet this knife is too small for my edc roles so i have just orderd the endura 4 gray frn ffg full flat grind as it suits my defencive - tactical needs as well as edc roles my biggest gripe with all stainles handles is that they offer no traction or grip what so ever i knew this and yet still bought it i dont know it just looked soo slick at the time if you dont mind the weight or less than par grip this is a great edc i would not use this blade in a defencive maner at all as it is too small deployement is not fst enough and you will probably slip off the handle and mangle your fingers this knife is beter suited to cut apples with and open boxes with i carried this knife for a few months now and some sise to side play has become evident wich is not fixable due to no torx screws and unexposed pivot the jimping is great as well as the thumb ramp deployment is super smooth over all outstanding knife just not for me check out the endura 4 ffg it is a limited production for 2010 and im guesing will be hard to find afterwords they come in some cool collors instead of black for onceEndura 4, Green FRN Handle, Plain also check out the g10 version alot more expencive but totaly worth it i bought 2
