I've only had this knife for 48 hours so this is mostly an initial impression.
Product Description: The blade is about 3-1/2 inches long and the handle is nearly five inches long. When opened, the knife is about 8-1/2 inches. It fits my short, wide hands quite well. It's a fairly big knife but has a rather slender profile so it fits into a front jeans pocket fairly well and Spyderco did a great job of keeping the weight down by skeletonizing the liners and using a high quality plastic (they call it fiberglass reinforced nylon) handles. The pocket clip is secured to the knife with three small torx head screws and is reversible to either end or either side. That doesn't make sense for a knife designed for tip up carry only, but they use the same handles on Endura knives without the wave feature so it saves them another part to inventory. The lock is very positive and audibly clicks when engaged. Sale/delivery rating: I ordered this knife via Amazon Prime. It arrived the following day. You simply can't beat service like that so Amazon earns five out of five stars. Quality of Product: The knife is made at Spyderco's Seki City, Japan factory and arrived sharp, well constructed and ready for use by a right hander. Spyderco has a reputation of providing high quality products for reasonable prices. I feel they easily met these standards with this product. Five stars Quality of design: It's too early to tell. There is a learning curve with this knife. Utilizing the Emerson Wave Feature is not simply a matter of pulling the knife from your pocket with the blade swinging free and locking into place. It requires an outward twisting of the wrist and a bit of wrist snap to get the blade to open completely and lock. I've complicated the matter by switching the clip to the opposite side and trying to use the knife left handed. I'm a rightie but I believe in keeping my options open and my right hand free. That is only going to add to the time required to gain proficiency with this knife. I am confident the design is sound but I believe the time required to master the use of this knife is going to be much longer than I had initially hoped. I did purchase a training version Spyderco Blade/Opener Folder Knife With Red FRN Handle Md: C10TRWbut it has not arrived yet. Four stars - only because the use of the Wave feature is not as intuitive as Spyderco would have you believe. Manufacturer support. Go to the spyderco website and you'll find every replacement part available for this knife but the blade itself. That is very important to me. Overall: 4.75 stars.

Just as promised...,
This review is from: Spyderco Endura 4 "Wave" Model # C10PGYW
I bought this item to carry while on patrol duty (I'm a police officer). I wanted something that I could draw and deploy quickly on my weak side if a suspect was attempting to take control of my firearm. Because I as able to change the pocket clip to the appropriate side and because of the Wave addition, I am able to do that easily without relying on fine motor skills that my not be there during a fight.

The blade is saber ground. I find the wave feature works very well. The knife is a slightly different color than is portrayed in the picture. It is a dark navy, not completely black. I do like the color though. The pocket clip is black. Comes razor sharp. This knife is a good slim lightweight knife that you will forget is in your pocket until you need it. Strong too.

This was the first Spyderco knife I have purchased and I have to say, I am very dissapointed in this knife. When I think about it, it really comes down to two things:1. Excessive blade play. This blade wiggles and you have to tighten it to the point of the wave feature being useless for it not to have significant blade play. The pivot is just too far back and the side panels in front of the pivot are too flexy to keep the blade in place. I've tightened, lubed, tightened two different points in different order like someone suggested on a forum but still the wigglez remained. 2. Blade not locking with my ub3r pr0 wave deploymentz. I bought this knife in my persuit of the perfect knife, and the wave feature in my opinion is an important element. To be able to draw a mechanical knife (dang knife laws) and have it open instantly is very appealing. So this knife's wave feature actually works fine, it catches well and all that but this issue I had which led to a nice gash in my pinky is that I deploy it and the blade hits the back lock, which you can audibly hear, but the knife does not lock in place, it bounces off the back lock and comes back to cut your gosh darn pinky in the process. It does this a lot and I can replicate it.(in other words I would not trust this knife to deploy correctly when I would need it most) Unfortunately this isn't something that I can return it for because how can you prove this defect? Unless my make a video of my self doing it, I doubt that the lady that picked up for me at the return place (Spyderco's) will be able to replicate my issue.(only happens when you deploy it rapidly, requires sk1llz) I guess I could send it in and hope for the best but they weren't very encouraging over the phone. :( In conclusion my good friends, if I were you and deciding on whether or not to purchase this lame knife, I would wait for the next version of this spyderco endura wave to come out when they fix the blade play issue (I doubt they will fix the back locking issue) so actually I would just not buy this knife at all! Ever! Honestly of all the knives I own, the only ones I've really come to "love" in pretty much every aspect are my coldsteel knives, everything about them is about as close to how I would make knives. And they have knives with the wave feature, next knife I'm going to get is the cold steel ak47 mini, it has a the wave feature and that sweet triad lock, and is under 3 inches, just like my.. never mind.. but under 3 inches is nice because although where I live doesn't have blade length requirements, I would like to have a knife I can bring with me anywhere I need to go and not have to worry about da laws. P.S. if a spyderco rep reads this, I AM DISSAPOINT! Reply and I'll give you a call so I can return this knife and get a new one from you guys so that my first spyderco is not my last spyderco!

Excellent carry folder for self-defense.The wave feature makes for a lightning fast opening, but does require practice to master. Construction and blade steel are first class. If your looking for a top quality defensive folder at a reasonable price,Spyderco is a very good choice.

This is a great knife. I am a fan of the knives with the Emerson openers and I have a Cold Steel Ti-Lite with the similiar feature. The Spyderco Endura 4 Wave, in my opinion, is designed better. In terms of ease of deployment, the clip isn't too tight so it's easy to grab and deploy without fighting around with the grip of the clip (which I had issues with on my ti-lite). While the locking mechanism isn't a Tri-Ad lock, I haven't had any problems so far. It came sharp and there was no wiggling of the blade. This knife does feel more comfortable and easier to deploy in the reverse grip (I believe the youtube videos called it tactical carry). Overall great product for the money you are paying. I also got my knife from this company two days before the expected delivery date.

This knife is really well constructed. The "wave" / Emerson open works great which is the main reason I bought this knife. It is a bit bigger than I expected it to be but I still carry it with me almost everyday. The pocket clip is able to be mounted on either side which is nice because the clip helps a ton when using the "wave" so if you prefer to keep it in your left pocket you can. Over all this knife is really solid and if I lost mine I would definitely buy another one.

Great knife, but cheap plastic mechanisms inside,

This review is from: Spyderco Endura 4 "Wave" Model # C10PGYW
This is a beautifully balance, quick drawing, well crafted knife I recommend to most. The steel is incredible hard and will hold an edge for a very long time. However. the plastic mechanism inside is a little weak and will wear after a while. Thus one should never disassemble the blade from its handle. Furthermore, the color of the handle (a purplish gray) makes the blade look more toy like than serious (which I quickly fixed by black, plastic spray paint). All that said, this is one of my favorite knifes and I highly recommend it.

Best knife ever - Spyderco Endura 4 "wave",

This review is from: Spyderco Endura 4 "Wave" Model # C10PGYW
This knife is fantastic. It is the second I have owned of this model, I have owned and still own 4 other spyderco knives.
The only reason to order a new one is if I loose one. Which unfortunately has happened a couple of times. I use their knives constantly. I own my own business, Georgia CPR, and am opening boxes, cutting things all the time. These knives keep an edge, and at the same time can be sharpened easily. This wave is faster to 'deploy' than a switchblade. There are no springs to break or wear out - and this knife is tough. I use the back edge, or the 'wave' as a cap opener/bottle opener and pry off bottle tops too. Again - if you need a knife that you can't wear out - an heirloom knife if you will, not due to beauty, but to utility. This is the one for you.

New edc.... Forever!,

This review is from: Spyderco Endura 4 "Wave" Model # C10PGYW
What's not to love? It's got length, it's got reputation, it's got proven materials, and it's got the best deployment system of any tactical folder on the planet. Better than any switchblade, and legal to boot! Instantly earned a place in my edc system, and has all but earned the permanent slot. Lightweight, tough, and spyderco sharp! The color is a dark navy blue, but this is perfect with jeans, blending in, and making the fact that you carry a blade a little less obvious. Love love love
