5.0 out of 5 stars Small Pen Knife
I needed a good keychain knife, but one with a good, sharp blade, a locking mechanism and ENOUGH handle to insure a good grip. The Ladybug 3 fits my bill to a T. Its lanyard hole can accept a split key ring, which in turn allows me to mount it on my keychain. The handle is textured and long enough that when the knife is opened [and locked], it presents a good, secure...

This knife and the serrated edge version i just bought are not the same quality or exactly the same design as the ones i bought at a hardware store 2 or 3 years ago. The main noticable difference is the checkering on the handle is much rougher than that on the older ones. the the blade has a higher rise to the finger hole, too. Overall the quality seems to have slipped a...

The handle is textured and long enough that when the knife is opened [and locked], it presents a good, secure grip. Nice blade, Good steel. Holds an edge well. Very positive lock; when you deploy the lock, it holds the blade opened -- and that's that! Well-constructed. Add to my positive comments, the extreme light weight and the price ... a good value and a good knife for my specific purpose. Highly recommneded as a key chain, pen knife with intended use to be light cutting jobs. Bears repeating: sharp, lockable blade with a good grip handle, lightweight at a reasonable price. Thank you, Spyerco. A very fine implement for a specific function. Excellent product for this purpose!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Quality Keychain Knife, October 4, 2010

This is one of the best, if not best pocket knife i have ever owned. honestly i probably never would have purchased it based on the name "LadyBug" but luckily i decided to click on the product page regardless. It is basically a mini version of the Sypderco Delica (Spyderco Delica 4 Folding Plain Edge FRN Knife which i had also purchased and really liked. The handle has a plasticy feel which seems slightly cheap however it gets the job done providing enough grip and a good feel in your hand. the blade is made from VG-10 Japanese steel made in Seki City Japan. I am not a steel expert but after doing research i found that this is considered one of the best steel forumulas overall. The knife was very sharp out of the box, although it could be sharper.
Bottom line if you have a leatherman multitool keychain or Swiss Army knife keychain and find yourself only using the knife all the time, leave it at home and put this bad boy on your key ring, you wont regret it. Feels better, cuts better, looks better and overall is better than all those multitool knives on the market.

I bought this knife for my boyfriend. It was exactly what he was looking for-- a super lightweight knife with a smooth blade so he could sharpen it and take it ultralight backpacking.

4.0 out of 5 stars very nice pocket knife, October 13, 2009

This is a nice little pocket knife, very light weight and compact.

The blade is sharp, slightly less than 2 inches in length, and the knife is less than 4 1/2 inches long with the blade locked open. The blade would be very small, if it were not for the large thumbhole in the blade. I would prefer a thumb stud, rather than the thumbhole in the blade, for use in opening the knife. A stud would have allowed the knife blade to be significantly smaller without losing capability and ease of use.

The body of the knife seems to be some kind of polymer and has 2 finger grooves molded into the body, with another notch on the top of the body for pushing the unlocking mechanism for the blade. It has a hole in the body on the butt end, where you could attach it to a key chain.

If you have small hands, I suppose you could open and lock the blade one handed. I can not do so. For me, it is a 2 handed operation for opening and closing the knife.

In short, it makes for a nice pocket or purse knife that is unobtrusive due to its small size and light weight and is a good value for the price paid.
